I think Newt underestimates her chances. I'll write an essay today (or in the next few days) to describe why.

I hope Newt reveals the 'methodology' he used to scientifically compute the 1/3 odds. I don't expect this to happen soon.

If she does then the Republicans, like in 1932, have no one else to blame but themselves.

If Republicans do not start doing something now to promote a viable candidate for '08, I believe Hillary may well become President.

without a doubt. she has the entire weight of the US mainstream media behind her, she will never answer a question that has not been pre-screened and staged in advance (and she can get away with it), she is a celebrity, she starts with a solid 43% of the vote, the Dems will commit any act of voter fraud necessary to get her elected, and the pubbies are doing nothing to groom a candidate for 2008.
freepers who say she has no chance of being elected are fooling themselves.

For those who believe Hillary when she says she is "moderate", they have only to see her comments this week in NY about allowing domestic partners benefits.

It all depends on what happens to the economy over the next few years. W will be re elected, because I believe the market is going to continue firming over the next 12-18 months.
If, however, we are in for a protracted period of very sluggish growth intermediate term (3-10 yrs), then I think we can say hello to President Hillary Clinton, and we will all have to work very, very hard to ensure that she does not socialize our nation.

Newt's giving odds now? Who does he think he is, Bill Bennett?
To: 7 x 77
I would say that is a reasonable estimate, based on what I have seen at least 33% of this country's population is made up of morons.
I cite those national elections in the 90's where Bubba Klintoon was elected President as evidence of their existence.

Let's draft Ann Coulter to run against her in '08.

With Motor Voter, her chances are higher.

Don't know how Newt arrived at his numbers, but I'd say she does have a chance of getting elected. I'd like to say the chances are "slim" and "none", but just like the Dems "misunderestimated" Dubya, we cannot let our guard down!
Regarding other posters saying they'd vote for her if so-and-so ran against her, I'd have to say it would be a cold day in he** before I would!

Keeping Cheney on the ticket for 2004 is huge mistake. He's great and everyone loves him but the 2004 election is like a buy in a big tournament with 2008 being the championship. If the GOP fails to put someone in the VP slot who is a legitimate 2008 candidate we are sinking our own boat.

It is
absolutely baffling how a woman with NO political or management experience of ANY kind can ascend to being elected senator in a state she has NEVER even lived in, and then be predicted to win the presidency based on nothing more that a few years learning the senator role.
It says a lot about the nation, none of it good.

"No one will ever go broke underestimating the taste of the American people." H.L.Mencken.
If Mencken were alive today, he'd surely add "intelligence and judgement" to his perceptive phrase -- ESPECIALLY where the klintoons are concerned.
