Hillary's local book-signing attracts protesters, proceeds like clockwork

The guy wearing the devil costume out on Pennsylvania Avenue yesterday was adamant.

"Enter the bookstore and take two steps down — morally and socially," he hollered into a bullhorn.

The mannerly crowd outside Trover Shop Books on Capitol Hill gazed back at him, clutching precious orange vouchers that proved they had already paid for "Living History," Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's new memoir.

Good job!! Although Page 4 is not Front Page, it's not burried in the back page with some one paragraph mention. I will say, we've got to do better than 4th page....

I was in Walmart a bit ago and Hitlary's book was right there staring me in the face (I made sure as childish as it was that I flicked it hard with my finger)...then I turn to the magazine rack and the WITCH is on the front cover of TIME...sign on to MSN today and she's on the front page there!!! She's getting her message out in a BIG way!!! (or at least her ugly face) I did find it funny that on the time cover the headline was something to the effects of "Hillary Clinton tells her story" that's what it is alright.... A STORY..not fact, not history...A STORY!!!!

In addition to protesting book signings, we should be bringing to the forefront and emailing to ALL of our contacts the story out of National Review about Dick Morris and his recollection of Hitlary's "fantasy" as we should with the flood of those kinds of recantings that will come along.

Dressing up in the theatrics is great....as long as it's done by people that are NOT overly emotional....it would become a "fools parade" if someone who was dressed up in a devil's suit started exchanging in a heated debate with the "hildabeast heard". You must, at all times, remain cool, calm and SMUG if you are dressing up, or DON'T DO IT. I guess that's my problem with the theatrics...the concerns that someone on our side wouldn't hold their cool. Stooping to emotional outbursts (such as *someone's* little remarks to me of "you're the only one who cares" and "deal with it") would immediately renig ALL creditability. It appears that the guy in the Devil suit did no such thing....however I would caution the average FReeper who can't hold their emotions to refrain from theatrics that would draw extra attention to them and give them the chance to get into an inflamed/enraged emotional battle with the members of the press.

That's why the press singles out guys like "Mr. Devil"....they want to see us fly off the handle & go nuts so they can point at us on TV and say "see, see, they are all whackos".

..."Ah, it is the witching hour," said jovial Trover employee Richard Coles...

You got that right, Ricky.

Go get the Hildabeast, DC Crew!

..ok...no devil suits at our FReeping, it just makes ourside look silly and foolish...

Horse hockey.

It's exactly that kind of media-savvy inventiveness that makes FR punch above its weight.

Yo, Cherry: stop worrying so much about what 'the other side' thinks, and start considering the way you're dismaying our side. You're dead wrong, anyway: devil suits and high-vis protests provide the media hooks we need.

The DC Chapter has Rules for Protesting and we police ourselves and those who join us during our events. Check the the rules out on our website: www.dcchapter.com -- just click the button marked "Protesting."

Throughout the years protesting in front of the White House and elsewhere, the DC Chapter has earned a good reputation with the various police entities in the area: Secret Service, Park Police, DC Police and Capitol Police.

Other chapters use our rules or have developed their own. If you plan to protest one of Hillary's book events, you might want to familiarize yourself with the rules so you are prepared to stop a confrontation before it becomes too late or share them with others who join you.

Good luck on your Hillary freep -- remember the first rule in protesting is to have fun while making your points.

Oh really ... is that why Clinton's press secretary went out to the place where the FReepers were protesting and stood nose to nose with Kristinn ...?? Just because the left's media is not reporting our signs, and just because some of the lefties appear to be making fun of the costumes ... believe me they are very bothered by it. Most of them just shout obscenities! ... should that action stop us ...????

Take the high road. Be civil, but resolute, when you are cursed at or given the middle finger; point out the rudeness of the leftists by chanting, "Mean spirited arrogant condescending liberal."

I prefer to just smile and wave.....it makes them more mad that they didn't get you upset! :o)

I am looking forward to being there on the 28. I think we should take a page from Phyllis Schafly and dress nicely for the event. I don't want our message lost in the costume.

I still go back to the fact that we are out there to educate the public and show the Clintons (and the rest of the left) for the irrational, unlogical idiots they are....just my opinion.

Ask yourself this question......Would Rumsfeld or GW be out there in costume?????

I just like to hold myself to a higher standard than I expect out of the liberals, that's all. But, hey, as I said in the other posts that followed, if you'd read them before you attacked one of your own, whatever works for you...it's a FRee country! :o)

BTW...you are taking it awfully emotionally and personally what I said...I would hope you and Area51 are calmer when dealing with confrontation from your opponents than you are dealing with constructive criticism from your supporters/fellow protestors.

We gain NOTHING on our side until we stop the fighting & bickering and attacks amongst ourselves. I offered an opinion, nothing more, nothing less. You don't have to own it if you don't agree with it, it's mine, I wouldn't let you have it anyhow. ;^)

Trust me, it was not meant as a personal attack against anyone. If you read further down I said if I felt it wasn't lost on others I might do it myself.

I just feel my personal goal of being out there is not to upset Hitlary....I could give a 'rats arse about her feelings....I'm out there to expose her for the liar she and the rest of the libs are and win some over to our side. I feel the middle of the road educated democrats in the city of Chicago would not respond well to costumes. *shrugs* Just my "observation" having been around this city as a "professional" for quite some time. But, I will proudly stand next to "Devil Man" ;o) He might win over some blue collar Hoffa type 'rats...ya never know! Hey, our side has room for everyone, don't we?

Great! But if you don't get any coverage, an apology to the DC Crew for your comments here is in order. Good luck, By.

Perhaps in the circus of DC, but I believe in the "uppitiness" of Chicago, it will not prevail.

Oh, what am I saying, we have Daley, Farakahn & J.J.(Jessie Jackson) here!!!!! LOL

I will proudly support any of my fellow Chicago FReepers that want to come in costume, I, however, will be in my best dressed business attire to win over the white collar type demon 'rats. ;o)
