[history]
A federal judge in Baltimore has forbidden a member of the Sons of Confederate Veterans from criticizing a government decision not to fly the Confederate flag at a Confederate memorial, reports the Washington Post.
Patrick J. Griffin III wanted to include statements protesting the government's decision to allow the flying of the Confederate flag at Point Lookout prisoner of war camp only one day a year. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, however, forced him to cut the lines from a speech he was to deliver there June 14.

I've been to the prison camp reenactment at Point Lookout. The reenactors make the Yankees seem like devils. I'm a Southerner by birth, but the reenactment was so over-the-top that I rolled my eyes.
They did have exhibits that were very educational, though.
I'm all for historical, acurate portrayals of the events that shaped out nation. The Point Lookout actors are pure propoganda, and that's just as bad as those who try to stamp out southern heritage.
Well, I guess I'm in for it.

Apparetnly you never heard of a place called "Andersonville." Rest assured, there were attrocities comitted on the part of both sides during the Civil War.

What part of the second sentence "Rest assured, there were attrocities comitted on the part of both sides during the Civil War." did you not understand? I'm guessing it was the "both sides" part.

Those photos I told you about?, one of the images of the men (one of four brothers imprisoned @ P.L.) still showed evidence of starvation many of the men endured during their confinement.
Horrible for all the men who suffered - on both sides.

Yes, I remember you mentioning those.
I am not sure if I've told you about this book, but it's excellent (though wrenching).
Elmira: Death Camp of the North
I actually found it in my local library... it was written by a professor at a college in Elmira if I recall.

It's ok friends, they gub'ment is just making sure you know the "correct" history.
See: U.S. Corrects 'Southern Bias' at Civil War Sites
Censored speech at a Southern memorial, locked gates during a ceremony to honor Southern soldiers, no flags allowed to fly at Southern gravesites. All part of the game.
