I'm glad you reconsidered...that's a nice way to start the day - I'm glad I posted to you - I often just lurk!

I know exactly how you feel - and I purposely don't support most of hollywood leftists and their agenda!
If there was a hint of "agenda" in this movie I would've caught it - and I really didn't see any.
(except of course how disney always likes to "kill" off the moms in their stories ala bambi ) ..... lol
(this makes my femnist sisterinlaw furious)

I hope you laugh along with the kids... enjoy :)

>I also read that if Nemo does well, it would give Pixar more leverage in its escape from Disney. I think that's a lock...

I'm not sure Pixar
wants to "escape" from Disney.
On Disney's cable

channel, they do tons
of commercials and tie-ins
for Pixar movies.

(Now and then I watch
Disney for "Lizzie McGuire.")
If Pixar breaks "free,"

that saturation
kind of advertising costs
a whole lotta cash...

I bet that either
Pixar stays independent,
OR Jobs will SOMEHOW

buy Disney himself
and merge Disney to Pixar...
Then he could clean house...

PIXAR is an independent company, they have a distribution deal with Disney for 5 films, this was the last of those 5. Pixar now is a free agent to negotiate for a new distributor.

Given the only good films with DISNEY even associated with them recently have been Pixar, you better believe DISNEY will be paying a very pretty penny to renew PIXAR.

Opps. I meant to say,
"Pixar stays independent
but with agreements

for distribution
and advertising
links with
Disney, but they'll get

better terms." Disney's
marketing clout is too great
to walk away from.

I dunno, personally I think Monsters Inc. was a better film than Finding Nemo. Nemo was a good film, just foung Monsters to be more well rounded and enjoyable overall.

Well on second thought, I did think that Monsters Inc was more interesting, the whole monster world concept was pretty cute/cool. I've just seen it so many times (my 19 month old LOVES that Monsters Inc DVD), perhaps I am jaded now :)

haha... perhaps. I dunno, Nemo was a good film, but I think Monster's Inc. was a far better and more complete film.

Honestly I think Nemo suffered from poor casting/dialoge scripting, I think the characters of Marlin and the female fish could have been delivered better with others behind the mic. I don't know there was just something missing from their dynamic.

Don't get me wrong, it is still a wonderful film and great family entertainment. I just think it is weaker overall than MI.

If I rated Pixar Film probably be in this order:

1) Monster's Inc
2) Toy Story
3) Bugs Life
4) Finding Nemo
5) Toy Story 2

Kill off the mothers???

Other than Bambi, and this Movie, what other Disney film was momma killed? Perhaps your feminist sister in law missed DUMBO... after all where was Mr. Jumbo in that one?!?

Or, maybe she didn't see the LION KING??? Nothing like a little fratracide to take out the daddy.

People looking for agenda's tend to find what they are looking for regardless if its there or not.

I thought Henson Company might sue for having her call him Elmo at one point.

Oh well for your kids. I saw it tonight, and loved it.

It's a very good movie. All of the characters are fully developed and the one of the subplots is that horrible things can happen in suburbia, too-- which passes right over the heads of the kids, but gives the parents watching something to worry about. The "kid" animals in the movie are cute, too.

Orlando formerly had a Republican mayor who is now SOS of Fl and would still if the GOP candidate (the races are officially nonpartisan) wasn't such a bad candidate (and one who was thought to be a racist). Jeb Bush also runs FL. The GOP has a lot to lose by Disney's downfall.

Although I personally have nothing against Disney, many Freepers do.. and that's an interesting point you bring up. I'd like to see some Freepers discuss it...

I like how they stuck the subplot in there about Marlin learning how to tell a joke by the end of the movie. It was totally unnecessary for the plot, but it added to character development-- and Brooks was a great choice for playing that character.

"Elmo "

I didn't even think of that!

Of course, the Henson Co. would have to be anal retentive to initiate such a suit. But, there seems to be a lot of anal retentive people out there.

I forgot about that. It was positively charming!

I think it showed how his level of confidence had grown after his successful rescue of Nemo.

I really have to see this movie again!

"Cliff" - John Ratzenburger (sp?) has been in all 5 PIXAR movies:

I've noticed that too, and I was wondering if anyone knows the story behind that. Is he an old drinking buddy with the producers or something?

Didn't anybody catch the anti-American dig in the beginning of the film? There was a dig about the sharks taking over and wanting to run everthing, just like the Americans. Some liberal's dig made it to the screne in a kids movie. I think I'm right about the sharks saying this, anyway it was said in some context. Let me know what you heard. PS. I'm not a paranoid right winger.
