Al Quesa has always been opposed to the House of Saud. I would even argue that these aren'tthe first threats, as they have openly supported taking the necessary steps to get the US out of Saudi Arabia, and to remove from power those who allowed such a thing to happen.

All along, bin Laden's primary objective has actually been to become the ruler of an Islamic republic in Saudi Arabia.

This may be the most blunt they have been, but the message has always been out there.

This reminds me a lot of the situation in Russia before the Russian revolution of 1917.

How many times can 'vey', 'hugh', 'series', etc. be funny?

Or moose and cheese. Really funny stuff.

"I find it to be infantile."

I couldn't agree more. I love good laugh, but "vey, hugh, series, etc.," weren't that funny to start with - and they REALLY aren't funny after the umpteen thousandth time.

'These things crack me up when I read them, but I wonder how many newbies are wondering if we're some kind of elite club with code language only "members" understand'

I'm sure a lot of them think that. I suspect that's where the left's sudden, paranoid obsession with VRWC keywords came from.

Newbies ask all the time what this stuff means. Somebody usually 'splains it to them. I'd rather we kept them as inside jokes as much as possible...I really love the effect some of FR poster's cryptic remarks have on the wingnuts.

Funny but with all the inside joke banter nobody's mentioned this:

In a related development, Iran is said to have arrested the spokesman for Al Qaida, Suleiman Abu Gheith. The London-based A-Sharq Al Awsat daily reported on Friday that Iran informed the United States of Abu Gheith's arrest.

Abu Gheith, a Kuwaiti national, had publicly warned the United States of additional attacks in wake of the suicide strikes on New York and Washington on Sept. 11, 2001. The newspaper reported that Iran has arrested several Al Qaida members and extradited to Saudi Arabia citizens of the kingdom.

I believe this guy was actually calling for attacks on the US - not just "warning" us. Nice catch.

Guess Rumsfeld's constant mentioning of Iran made the mullahs nervous...

SecState has a much easier job now. "Look, you can deal with me, or Rumsfeld will deal with you."
