LONDON, May 28, 2003 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The UK Life League, a British pro-life group has reported that Jane Russell, the 1940s and '50s Hollywood movie star and pin-up girl, now aged 82, gave an interview this week slamming abortion. "People should never, ever have an abortion. Don't talk to me about it being a woman's right to choose what she does with her own body. The choice is between life and death," said Russell.
Describing her shock at finding herself pregnant at 18: "The only solution was to find a quack and get an abortion. I had a botched abortion and it was terrible. Afterwards my own doctor said: 'What butcher did this to you?' I had to be taken to hospital. I was so ill I nearly died. I've never known pain like it." Russell says that due to the abortion she was not able to have any other children.

My oldest daughter recently discovered she's pregnant. I was with her for her first ultrasound at 12 1/2 weeks. The little bugger was waving those little arm buds and kicking those little leg buds like mad. All three of us (my son in-law was there too, of course) fell in love at the same moment.
LOL...I told her the kid was really gonna kick the crap out of her in a few months. SHE'S always been FEROCIOUS kicker since before she was born.

**How do you know "most women have regrets." In my experience, most women don't.**
Your experience (and the experiences of those you know) may change when you come to meet your maker and might be accountable for the killi...er.......aborting of a baby.

"I'm not ashamed. If I had been, I wouldn't have had it. That was almost 25 years ago."So...the vast experience to which you elude is your own, singular experience? And this is meant to mean what, exactly?

Apparently it wasn't sufficiently "devastating" to her that she could trouble herself to take proper precautions in the future . . .

Lots of women who had babies they didn't want have regrets too.

** My point was that if the "majority" of women regretted it so much, abortion would be rarer than it is.**
And it is becoming rarer all the time.

I'm not looking for a fight. My point is that if the "majority" of women were as regretful as you all say, abortion would be more rare than it is. That's all. Please spare me the lectures, the website referrals, etc. Oy.

I'm not ashamed. If I had been, I wouldn't have had it.Do you think she recognizes this statement constitutes a "policy" as opposed to a "reaction?"

And lots of women who give up their babies for adoption have regrets and get pregnant again shortly after.

**Lots of women who had babies they didn't want have regrets too.**
But at least the regrets do not include the murder of a human being.

I'm drawing from many of my contemporaries who had abortions too. Of course the people who come into counseling centers will have their regrets. My point is that I don't believe they are in the majority. If you have valid statistics to point me to please do.

I remember a thread where you talked about it, s2r. I agree with both you and TX.
My sister regrets, no not regrets, mourns the baby she aborted at 17 and I still painfully regret at 19 telling her it was the right thing to do. She married the baby's dad not long after and when he found out (he didn't know) he was devastated.
One dead baby and several people wounded in my experience.

Wonderful!!!
Prayers and best wishes for whole family!
The Most Important
Person On Earth
THE most important person on earth is a mother. She cannot claim the honor of having built Notre Dame Cathedral. She need not. She has built something more magnificent than any cathedral - a dwelling for an immortal soul, the tiny perfection of her baby's body.
The angels have not been blessed with such a grace. They cannot share in God's creative miracle to bring new saints to Heaven. Only a human mother can. Mothers are closer to God the Creator than any other creature; God joins forces with mothers in performing this act of creation.
What on God's good earth is more glorious than this: to be a mother?
