(1010 WINS) (NEW YORK) Sen. Charles Schumer wants stronger regulations on the nation's meat supply in light of a recent outbreak of mad cow disease in Canada.
Schumer announced the proposal of a bill that would require the federal Department of Agriculture to register all meat from the time it is slaughtered to the time it gets to grocery stores, thereby preventing mad cow, E. colia, salmonella and listeria.
"When it comes to the safety of meat, our country is not doing close to enough, Schumer said.
Last week a cow slaughtered in Alberta, Canada tested positive for Mad Cow. The case was the first in North America in a decade.
The bill Schumer introduced would give purchasers the ability to track the meat package's history and where it has traveled in case of an outbreak.
"Five thousand Americans die each year because of pathogens carried in mead, and most of those deaths would be preventable if we do what we have to do," Schumer said.

He should be more worried about an oubreak of Mad Cow disease in New York. Supposedly there is a case where an infected cow was imported into New York and then ran for New York's other senate seat.

How did any of us survive until Chuckie showed up on the scene to protect us?
He's the king of scare, and every Sunday he brings up another bogus issue.

Chuckie is moronic. Our meat is as safe as it can be from the slaughterhouse to the processing plant to the grocery store. Most people get ill from unsafe handling of meat or undercooking it. There's only so much the government can do if individuals aren't responsible. But that's Chuckie's answer, the government knows better than you how to make sure your hamburger doesn't make you come down with holes in your brain.

Remember when Homer Simpson became the Safety Inspector? Scmucky Schumer is worse.

"It's not enough to register guns. Now he wants to register hot dogs. "First he'll register meat. Then he'll limit the length.
Then will come house-to-house searches for unregistered meat.
Permits for concealed meat will follow. Then - confiscation of meat or meat-like products.

Schumer sez:
"We need safer bullets, safer guns, and less sweet Italian sausage!"

First he'll register meat. Then he'll limit the length. Pity those meat owners who have "arsenals" of freezers. And let's not forget those "assault flank steaks" with high capacity marinade. Now, I ask you, what ordinary citizen has a need for a 20 oz ribeye?
And don't get me started on those "street sweeper" bratwursts!

It seems that not a day goes by that Schumer doesnt call for (mostly federal) government regulations on something.
cell phones, breakfast cereals, guns, meat, etc.
There are times when I wish Schumer got all the government regulations he ever wanted, (in a country in which I dont reside) and that he lived as a regular everyday citizen in that country. Not as a politically connected government official. Then he'll see how great his dream uptopia is.

Schumer Calls for New Meat Supply Regulations The word "Regulations" is Schumers most favorite word in the english language. It must've been the very first word he spoke back when he was still a baby as opposed to "momma" or "dadda".

LOL! Grills will have the necessary locks to prevent unauthorized use. A new meaning will be attributed to the phrase "fire up the grill".
Rest easy, though. Newer grills with "owner recognition" technology are now being developed.
