I got the impression that the MEs never made a "call" one way or the other, but that independent forensic experts who have read the report believe it was caused by being in the water. Michael Baden said that the limbs could have been "pulled" off by the weights/anchors/whatever she was "anchored" with.

And the people that are pushing the "she was carved up" theory are The Defense Team, through Geraldo and Breathless Rita Cosby.

Remember, this ALL started being leaked when Geragos came onboard.

This lends a little credibility to the defence.

......which is exactly why these stories are interpreted as they are.

There is nothing definite for any interested person to know, but the Satanic cult theory is just what the defense wants out there for public consumption. Geragos is loving this.

I got the impression that the ME report was very noncommittal and that the defense is spinning for all its worth.

I also wondered if the ME report could have been written to leave out parts that would give away other evidence they have. Do they ever do that?

Remains

NOTE: This assessment is done by an amateur with a very small photo and a magnifying glass. This is by no means an expert opinion!

1. Head absent, no neck visible.

2. Shoulders clearly defined. Dark spots in arc across upper chest and on insides of shoulders appear to be the outline of a garment, possibly a light colored sleeveless nightgown.

3. Left arm is resting on large rock with forearm bones extended slightly over the torso (where the skin ends, bone starts). Dark spot near waist area is end of forearm bones with no hand attached. Closer inspection reveals two forearm bones clearly defined.

4. Right arm appears to be laying on top of the torso and bent at a sharper angle than the left arm, over the right breast. Dark spot in center of torso appears to be end of forearm bones with no hand attached. Another shadow is obscuring the right elbow area.

NOTE: The forearms are both skeletal. The dark spots, which I think must be bone marrow showing, would indicate that the hands had been intentionally removed. Think of a whole chicken bone, with rounded, smooth, white ends. Then think of a broken chicken bone where you can see the bone marrow. The ends of these bones did not come off through decomp.

5. Abdominal area appears flat and narrow, as if largely skeletal under the clothing.

6. Partial right leg present, appears to be absent below the approximate knee area. Dark area visible at leg end, appears to have been deliberately severed. Green discoloration may be from decomposition.

7. Partial left leg present, bent at the knee, no foot. The lightest spot is the bent knee in the air. The darker portion below is the underside of the thigh. Black spot visible at leg end, appears to have been deliberately severed. Green discoloration may be from decomposition.

well, i understand your points, but why are they searching aggressively for more body parts, they must need them for some reason, and it sure looks like they are trying to refute some line of attack from Geragos regarding the condition of the corpse.

but why are they searching aggressively for more body parts

I suspect they are hoping to find one still attached to a "homemade anchor," which is what Scott claimed he did with the missing concrete, and two of which he claimed he made are unaccounted for.

I got the impression that the ME report was very noncommittal and that the defense is spinning for all its worth.

Admittedly, I am not very familiar with the ME report particulars, but I got the same impression.

I also wondered if the ME report could have been written to leave out parts that would give away other evidence they have. Do they ever do that?

I have no idea. Are there restrictions imposed by the court as to "conclusions" being released? It seems it would make sense with a pending trial, but I don't know.

I can only suppose that the State needs/seeks as much evidence as they can find and may mostly want to further prove their theory.

But alas, all we poor spectators can do is guess and guess and guess.

there should be a location that should have a huge amount of forensic evidence, blood, etc. where is it?

In the water?
My guess is that he killed her in the house with a blunt object blow or by strangulation, and took her to the bay and put her over the side into the water before dismembering her.

"...it does not appear to be the house..."

An article recently posted in FR cited the prosecution as stating they had plenty evidence that the murder took place in the Peterson home. Don't know about the location of the dismemberment.

Yeah, ok......well anyway, this report is kind of confusing: Is the baby's body present too, or is it now being suggested that it was delievered, and then she was killed? Does anyone know?

From the article: "The womb, however, is intact -- suggesting that the nearly full-term baby was not cut out of Laci’s body but was expelled naturally after she was killed."

"The source also told Fox that the condition of the body did not point to a ritual slaying, but instead indicates that it was cut up to aid in its disposal."

Remember when Scott was being interviewed by Diane Sawyer? They were discussing something and Diane said; "What about the baby?" Scott said; "Yea, that was the hardest." and then he sort of back tracked, because he realized how bad that sounded.

I wish I knew where the transcript was.

Anybody else catch that?
