I'm not an explosion expert, but I think an exploding boiler is pretty easy to pinpoint as a cause.

I would just look for the lack of boiler where the boiler used to be. 8-)

This is assuming that the target was Yale Law School (and that it wasn't an outgoing package). If the package was outgoing, it could have been addressed to a much smaller building, which would have taken out the whole infrastructure, packed with people.

That link reminds me that the main mail room in Yale Law School is not the one in the basement, but on the first floor. That would put it above the student lounge in the basement (if those rooms remain in the same places despite the renovation that another poster mentioned). So if the two rooms damaged are the mail room and the student lounge, that would make sense.

Actually the worst incident of school violence in the country's history was a school in Michigan blown up in 1927, killing 44 kids, by a local nutjob who was treasurer of the school board and was upset by increases in local taxes. Not all the explosives went off or it would have been worse.

As I said, I have no idea who did it and I would tend not to think terrorism. Did you really care about the WTC or the thousands of people inside? bin Laden himself didn't expect that result, the point was to attack the symbols of capitalism and economic standing. The Ivy League schools are symbolic too.
