I kind of liked the show. Leno had been getting a bit boring.
A woman on late-night has some definite possibilities, just not sure if she is the one.

Didn't watch Katie, and never will. I did, however, catch a snipet on the Today Show this morning while working out at the gym -- you know, just the picture, no sound. The segment was making a big fuss over her getting ready for the Tonight Show with a take-off on "Pretty Woman," with the dresses, the shoes, all the fawning over the whore.
The narcissism of NBC and Couric in particular is enough to make one barf. Glad I did not toss my cookies at the gymn.

As a comedian, she isn't.
The only two slight laughs I enjoyed were from the jokes from her 2 daughters--considering their ages.
Otherwise, the audience/band response during whole monologue seemed to be more patronizing [she has influence on who keeps their jobs], than real humor.
Conversely, Leno seemed out of his element in his a.m. slot. He did carry it off ok, and did a zinger at the lack of comedy/jokes from the morning staff writers.
Each should return to their elements. [I heard this was not Jay's idea to switch. I also remember when Katie was on Rosie's show, Katie indicated she'd like to host that kind of talk show. How is Caroline Rhea's ratings holding up?]

They can switch jobs every other day and I'd never know it anyway.

Jeopardy. That's it.
To: zeebee
just not sure if she is the one. Perhaps her colon could star on the Tonight Show, and the rest of her could continue indoctrinating the mindless masses of morning viewers.

Glad I missed that. Your description reminded me of BJ Clinton's entrance to the Rat convention in 2000.

That is a great description of her. I heard Laura Ingraham the other night say that the article about how Asleigh Banfield's carreer is dying (was this in the NYT?) was a hit by Katie Couric. I took that to mean that Couric felt threatened by Banfield and figured out a way to take her out. Also heard that Katie got very tempermental when she couldn't get the entire Friends cast on as her guests. Poor Katie had to settle for Mike Meyers. I don't know who else she had because I turned it off. Obviously effective joke telling isn't all that easy.

Katie made it look painfull. I didn't watch after the monologue. Thought about emailing Jay... decided it was a waste of time.

I thought she was in trouble when she started with "boob jokes, especially her own boobs. I knew she was in trouble when she advanced to "dick" jokes.
