A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

How Does Your Garden Grow?

Butchart Gardens, Victoria, BC

The Butchart Gardens in Victoria, British Columbia, are rated as one of the most beautiful garden displays in the world....50 acres of beautiful flowers, trees, and the most lush landscape. You can stroll through a Sunken Garden, Japanese Garden, Italian Garden, the majestic Ross Fountain and the English Rose Garden. Each garden is linked by spacious lawns, streams and Lily ponds.

Since Spring is in full bloom, and Summer is almost here, we thought it might be fun to let those who enjoy their gardens - whether flower or vegetable - do a little bragging. We can't all look out our window and see a beautiful view like the two photos above, but then, unless we had a huge full-time garden staff, we wouldn't have time to visit the Finest. :)

I don't claim to have a green thumb nor spend a lot of time digging in the ground, but this is where I enjoy early morning coffee, listening to the birds sing, and watching the goldfish. It's peaceful and quiet and relaxing. Low maintenance - ground cover and concrete and brick - that's the lazy man's garden. :)

Your turn! Let's see some of FR's Finest Gardens.

Thanks, Mixer!

1) Click on the graphic to open the Calendar.
2) Once there you can click on any month and even click to the right to go into next year. Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up.
3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit.
4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it.
5) If all else fails or simply if you want me to do this for you send me a FReepmail and I will gladly do it for you. ~Mixer

Funny how that happens, huh?

I remember laughing my behind off watching All in the Family when it first came out. But my Mom HATED the show, and despised Archie. In a year or 2, she was hooked on the show ! She liked it as much or even more than I did once she was hooked too.

Not time enough to search Google with you leaving, but I do nominate you for 'The Finest Green Thumb Award' !!

Well, thank you. What a sweet compliment. But, I do believe you also have a green thumb. I have heard you talking about your flowers.....I would love to see them.

How about if I share my Finest Green Thumb Award with Aqua for her lovely rhododendrons, Billie for her pretty Goldfish pond and for those prize winning petunias (?) I see on her table, dutchess for her pretty iris and with all the other Finest gardeners who shared pictures of their flowers and their gardens or would have, if they could have? :-)

M_B, I've got several flowers waiting to be planted. Got some at church on Mother's Day and hubby's church sent some home with him. I'm planning to make a flower bed along my back fence. I've already planted Petunias around my dogwood trees in front of the house. Had to go out and spray them this afternoon as the creepy crawlies were eating them full of holes.

What a lovely home you have M_B, no wonder you want to be outside. I've missed you though.

Thank you. Yes, I just have the hardest time not going outside on beautiful days. Soon it will be so hot I will be forced back inside in the afternoons, so I am going to enjoy it while I can.

So nice to get a chance to talk to you for a few minutes.

Dittos Mama. Seems we don't cross paths that often these days. Maybe when winter comes round again.

Mo, you need to travel some in W.Va. just for the experience of it. It is unlike any other state. It's really really wild and untamed. Rugged, steep, wooded and often uninhabitable. It doesn't have all that many people because there isn't much land flat enough to build on. But for rugged beauty, it is unmatched anywhere in the U.S.

Interesting, Nan - he's been so strongly on my mind, too, the past few days.
Wish I knew his e-mail address or how to contact him other than hailing him here - - okay -

Captain, we keep you in our prayers, and hope you will report in soon. The Crew truly misses you.
