How Does Your Garden Grow?

Butchart Gardens, Victoria, BC

The Butchart Gardens in Victoria, British Columbia, are rated as one of the most beautiful garden displays in the world....50 acres of beautiful flowers, trees, and the most lush landscape. You can stroll through a Sunken Garden, Japanese Garden, Italian Garden, the majestic Ross Fountain and the English Rose Garden. Each garden is linked by spacious lawns, streams and Lily ponds.

Since Spring is in full bloom, and Summer is almost here, we thought it might be fun to let those who enjoy their gardens - whether flower or vegetable - do a little bragging. We can't all look out our window and see a beautiful view like the two photos above, but then, unless we had a huge full-time garden staff, we wouldn't have time to visit the Finest. :)

I don't claim to have a green thumb nor spend a lot of time digging in the ground, but this is where I enjoy early morning coffee, listening to the birds sing, and watching the goldfish. It's peaceful and quiet and relaxing. Low maintenance - ground cover and concrete and brick - that's the lazy man's garden. :)

Pretty...yeah, pretty prickly!! There's something really different about the Southwest US. Everyting has adapted to the harsh climate, and will either bite, sting, or stick you if you aren't careful!

It's a far cry from the piney woods and black loam of Alabama and Mississippi.

Oh, thank you, Jinx! Really nice to see you here today, and your post is exactly what I was hoping for - seeing some of the 'gardens', etc. of different parts of the country - you probably have much of this type of landscaping in lots of Arizona. I picture white stucco houses with red tile roofs, and cactus gardens, and swimming pools!

We have the Carleen Bright Arboretum in town, which is where I go to take pictures of flowers, butterflies and my favorite model.

Oh what a day today is! The anniversary of one of the sweetest FReepers in all the land! This calls for a celebration of gigantic proportions! MO1, WHERE is your CAKE?! WE MUST HAVE CAKE!!! I know he loves my cakes the best, but after spending so many MINUTES creating today's thread, I was just exhausted. Please will somebody bring a cake to go with the balloons and flowers and marching band?

We see these guys all the time! Ol' Chuck Jones had them pegged when he came up with Wile E. Coyote!!

They have come to appreciate human civilization, because we keep tasty morsels as pets. (I know, that's a pretty disgusting concept to most of us...) We have to keep our pets inside at night so they don't become coyote dinners.
