A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

How Does Your Garden Grow?
Butchart Gardens, Victoria, BC
The Butchart Gardens in Victoria, British Columbia, are rated as one of the most beautiful garden displays in the world....50 acres of beautiful flowers, trees, and the most lush landscape. You can stroll through a Sunken Garden, Japanese Garden, Italian Garden, the majestic Ross Fountain and the English Rose Garden. Each garden is linked by spacious lawns, streams and Lily ponds.
Since Spring is in full bloom, and Summer is almost here, we thought it might be fun to let those who enjoy their gardens - whether flower or vegetable - do a little bragging. We can't all look out our window and see a beautiful view like the two photos above, but then, unless we had a huge full-time garden staff, we wouldn't have time to visit the Finest. :)
I don't claim to have a green thumb nor spend a lot of time digging in the ground, but this is where I enjoy early morning coffee, listening to the birds sing, and watching the goldfish. It's peaceful and quiet and relaxing. Low maintenance - ground cover and concrete and brick - that's the lazy man's garden. :)
Your turn! Let's see some of FR's Finest Gardens.

Thanks, Mixer!
1) Click on the graphic to open the Calendar. 2) Once there you can click on any month and even click to the right to go into next year. Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up. 3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit. 4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it. 5) If all else fails or simply if you want me to do this for you send me a FReepmail and I will gladly do it for you. ~Mixer

That is very pretty....love the color. Reminds me of a Georgia O'Keeffe painting.

Some days I'm so far behind I don't even bother! Well, normally, if I was this far behind......I might generally agree; however, there are folks on this thread who were taking advantage of my work handicap today, lol! : )
To: nicmarlo

Beautiful job with the hot tub. Ours isn't set into a deck like that. Yours looks very nice. If JK sees that, he is likely to start hammering away on a deck for ours. LOL.

Why was dansy invited? There's far too much riff-raff here already. LOL! Cuz, I invited her; and don't call dansy riff-raff. Got any more questions, guillo?

A retread cake? I'm so disappointed. Billie's cakes might not be the best but at least they are original. I got a retread for ya. So, eat this:

This is some Scarlet Verbena I planted Sunday in a hanging basket.....
And this is our Camellia. Unfortuanately, I don't remember what variety this is........
Thanks to everyone who contributed for a lovely thread today. Have a nice evening. :-)

Since we are allowed to brag about out gardens today, I have some lovely Roses and Day Lilies in the back garden.... What a beautiful yard you have.....those roses are gorgeous, and the colors go so well...I love the purple flowers in the middle of your yard...and I sure love watching butterflys (and Humming Birds, too!).
To: dansangel
Kind of reminds me of you and me! LOL! Yes, doesn't it. : )
To: nicmarlo
Funny you mentioned Hummingbirds. This weekend I put out five feeders for the little suckers. LOL. Hoping they won't fight as much if there is more to go around. Doesn't seem to make any difference. One little bird still thinks he owns them all. LOL!
To: MeeknMing
Does anybody remember THIS episode ??? No, meekie.....I don't; I don't think I saw that one....for the longest time, I couldn't stand that program. Then, one day, I thought it was the most hysterical show. Needless to say, I missed a bunch.
To: LadyX
I just found your reply to me Lady.
Is your soil heavy clay there?
Only around the house where the top soil was graded off. On the bottom the soil is so rich it's almost black.
