A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

How Does Your Garden Grow?

Butchart Gardens, Victoria, BC

The Butchart Gardens in Victoria, British Columbia, are rated as one of the most beautiful garden displays in the world....50 acres of beautiful flowers, trees, and the most lush landscape. You can stroll through a Sunken Garden, Japanese Garden, Italian Garden, the majestic Ross Fountain and the English Rose Garden. Each garden is linked by spacious lawns, streams and Lily ponds.

Since Spring is in full bloom, and Summer is almost here, we thought it might be fun to let those who enjoy their gardens - whether flower or vegetable - do a little bragging. We can't all look out our window and see a beautiful view like the two photos above, but then, unless we had a huge full-time garden staff, we wouldn't have time to visit the Finest. :)

I don't claim to have a green thumb nor spend a lot of time digging in the ground, but this is where I enjoy early morning coffee, listening to the birds sing, and watching the goldfish. It's peaceful and quiet and relaxing. Low maintenance - ground cover and concrete and brick - that's the lazy man's garden. :)

Your turn! Let's see some of FR's Finest Gardens.

Thanks, Mixer!

1) Click on the graphic to open the Calendar.
2) Once there you can click on any month and even click to the right to go into next year. Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up.
3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit.
4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it.
5) If all else fails or simply if you want me to do this for you send me a FReepmail and I will gladly do it for you. ~Mixer

Its always so nice to meet a new neighbor! Todd and I moved here from California five years ago (he grew up in Ohio, I grew up in southern California). I love it here. We should have a Freeper BBQ this summer! LOL. I will bring the steak....

Most of the plantings were in place. I've done some good improvements. This spring I took out two cypress trees that were too close to the front of the house. Replaced them with mountain laurel. Also put in 2 alberta spruces by my front door (one on either side of porch).

I'm so sorry MP. That has probably taken quite a toll on both of you. Please send my condolences to your husband and I hope that you'll be able to recuperate now that things are settling down.

Oh - I've seen that! Thank-you for the "visual." It's very pretty and I'm sure it makes a wonderful ground cover.

Gosh, Amy - I know we try to keep our graphics at a manageable 'size', but you could have gone a 'few' pixels larger. LOL!

maybe next time (when YOU'RE LIVING IN FLORIDA!!!)

I don't blame you for driving straight thru. The traffic - ugh!! Even on Sunday. We drove down to Macon to see my daughter on Sunday and the traffic is just unbelievable once you are within 30 miles of the city.

You'd *better* come visit when I'm back in FL. That's the nice thing about living there. People *want* to come visit...LOL!

Yup, *soul sisters.*

My w-o-r-k (ugh!) day was better today, thank goodness, but I guarantee that is short-lived. Tomorrow should be another busy one and that's when I need to be here to hostess. Rats.

Hi, Lori - thanks! And I knew you would have a lovely yard full of all kinds of color! I pinged you to a beautiful pale pink rose that Valerie posted. Reminds me so much of the one you planted for 'me' last year!

Yes, the little backyard courtyard lends itself well to margarita sipping, too. :)

I remember several years ago traveling through the Polish countryside (the northern mountains) and seeing just lovely gardens...also many stork nests and storks...It was so neat!

Wow....it's a lot of work. I remember from when I was a homeowner. It's fun to put in, but it's real work to maintain as well. Especially when things start to mature as they have in your yard.

But all of the work has paid off. You have a million-dollar back yard!
