A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

How Does Your Garden Grow?

Butchart Gardens, Victoria, BC

The Butchart Gardens in Victoria, British Columbia, are rated as one of the most beautiful garden displays in the world....50 acres of beautiful flowers, trees, and the most lush landscape. You can stroll through a Sunken Garden, Japanese Garden, Italian Garden, the majestic Ross Fountain and the English Rose Garden. Each garden is linked by spacious lawns, streams and Lily ponds.

Since Spring is in full bloom, and Summer is almost here, we thought it might be fun to let those who enjoy their gardens - whether flower or vegetable - do a little bragging. We can't all look out our window and see a beautiful view like the two photos above, but then, unless we had a huge full-time garden staff, we wouldn't have time to visit the Finest. :)

I don't claim to have a green thumb nor spend a lot of time digging in the ground, but this is where I enjoy early morning coffee, listening to the birds sing, and watching the goldfish. It's peaceful and quiet and relaxing. Low maintenance - ground cover and concrete and brick - that's the lazy man's garden. :)

Your turn! Let's see some of FR's Finest Gardens.

The guy's good, folks!
Thanks, Mixer!

1) Click on the graphic to open the Calendar.
2) Once there you can click on any month and even click to the right to go into next year. Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up.
3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit.
4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it.
5) If all else fails or simply if you want me to do this for you send me a FReepmail and I will gladly do it for you. ~Mixer

When I bought this house I was looking for a lot just like this. On a private road but still in town. Nice front yard with house set back into the woods. Out back I've got the tall oaks, magnolias, losts of azaleas, mountain laurel, wisteria, rhododendrons, yews, and a couple of other stuff. Out front many many more azaleas (red, pink, and white), boxwoods and lirope along a front walk, 3 excellent cherry trees, some japanese maples, hollies, spruces, and lots of other stuff too.

Hey there Molly! Good to hear from you..........twice! :o)

I'm praying for your whole family. It's always rough to have a loved one die, even if you are expecting it. Somehow that final goodbye.....even when you know it's not really FINAL......is very painful.

As for the rest of you ladies (and you too, Molly) when are we getting together again??

Here's a little sting to add to your glowing comments of praise...

Ouch, that hurt! Looks like another one has been corrupted by Billie's influence. :)

Oh, that it is, dear Thinny - I was thinking in terms of becoming even more beautiful, sprouting a few more leaves and casting shade - realizing its full potential

LadyX, you seem to have forgotten that a "thin man" doesn't need a lot of shade. A tiny branch with a couple of leaves would provide more than enough.

So, I guess it's not a good time to have these chocolate roses delivered to your doorsteps?

That's so sweet of Daisy - I remember another of her at almost that very spot, don't I? :) At that little gazebo?

Hi, martin! Your sunflowers are so cheery! (You are not alone - I don't grow flowers and stuff well either!)

The interesting thing about sunflowers is the way their little faces turn in whatever direction the sun is coming from.) :)
