I'm not suggesting anything at all like a retreat. Who said that our military has ever had any business fighting terrorists in Saudi Arabia? That has never been the purpose of the forces stationed there. It has been a support position for military activities elswhere in the gulf. The troops stay there at the invitation and pleasure of the Saudis. We defended the SA's in Gulf War I, but beyond that, we have never had any operations inside the country compared to Iraq or Afghanistan.
You are confusing me. I had always thought our forces were in Saudi Arabia as a result of the strategic interests of our military, not the internal struggles of SA. Are you suggesting that the military wage war against Al Qaeda in SA? If so, when should this war start? I am all for fighting terrorism, but show how is this happenned/happening in SA? All that has happened is a coordinated attack on western interests in Riyadh. If the Wahabbists have their way, they would car bomb the American military there a la Beirut. Do you suggest taking over SA?
You are D@amn right I have concerns about the safety of our military in SA. The 4 bombings in SA weren't vague at all. They were quite real. If American GI's are targeted, do we ignore the sovereignty of SA and attack? Just what are you suggesting?

There's over 30,000 of the fat Wahaabi royals...surely they can take care of themselves and their AQ extortioners for awhile. Say NO to protecting Saudi bank accounts with US military lives!

Gee, I guess all that bribe money the kingdom gives to the terrorists didn't work!
You can't buy peace, but I guess the House of Saud hasn't figured that out yet. Yeh! What you said!
To: mystery-ak
Everyone loves a winner! The House of Saud and Turkey will come crawling back on their hands and knees through Garafolo's broken glass. The French are next.
You just can't beat LEADERSHIP!
George Walker Bush is the hero of the 21st century. He deserves a place next to Reagan, Goldwater and Gingrich.
To: Dog Gone
Do we have any evidence that the Saudis are NOT the controllers of Al Qaeda?
I have lots of evidence that Saudi Arabia is the sine qua non of Al Qaeda.

The Saudi gov can not deny this and that it is related to the teaching of Muhammad ibn Abd al Wahhab and thus to the Royal family. A coup d'état is in the making in Saudi.

Sadly, we appear to have taken some forty wounded.
You can expect a very "thorough" Saudi investigation of this outrage, followed by a very "thorough" Saudi coverup of this outrage.
The Usual Suspects will be arrested and scapegoats found. If we want to get the guys who did this, we'll have to team up with the Mossad and start making dead Al Qaeda appear on Saudi streets in broad daylight.
When Arab terrorists wake up with slit throats, that's what I call "compassionate conservatism".
None of which alters the fact that we should bail out of the Kingdom as soon as possible.
Be Seeing You,
Chris

I like the method that the IDF take upon, when tracking down homicidal bombers in the gaza Strip...as in blowing their houses.
To those families whose loved ones have perished,
GOD BLESS
To those who have pepetarated this act...

I vote for kicking their butts, taking their oil, and turning Mecca in a Freedomland amusement park. I would amend that slightly to read as follows:
... and turn Mecca into the glass-colored parking lot for a Freedomland amusement park.

And bombing civilians deep inland isn't going to impact oil sales, shipments, or pricing, either. How about the fall of the House of Saud followed by an Islamic theocracy in Arabia with nuclear ambitions?

Bombing American civilians in the fringes of Saudi Arabia is clearly NOT going to "bring down the House of Saud".
Call me when a Taliban-like Army has managed to do battle with the Saudi Arabian Army, or when the Saudi police can't prevent violent anti-Royal protests in Riyadh. Until then, all these events will do is to pump up the adrenaline levels in those bored, frustrated members of our global society...those members of society who believe every piece of "hype" that makes it into the news, and those who frighten at the first sound of combat (sort of like the house dog that cowers when she hears the starting gun for a marathon race).
There are really just two choices here: either the terrorists were going after Westerners with the timing set for the Bali trial and Powell's visit, or else the terrorists were going after the House of Saud by bombing some foreign civilians on the fringes of Arabia.
Both possibilities demonstrate enormous weakness, as the attack clearly didn't hit an important Saud target, nor was it even on the right side of the planet for the Bali trial.
Thus, al-qaeda demonstrates that it either can't choose or attack meaningful targets, or that it can't project its force onto the right side of the world.
Gee, let's panic and get all hyped up about that! Not.
Or hey, I know; let's act like the total Bozo who I saw on Fox News this morning, who BLAMED BUSH for the attacks in Saudi Arabia! Oh yeah, that's the ticket! < /MOCKING! >

and those who frighten at the first sound of combat (sort of like the house dog that cowers when she hears the starting gun for a marathon race). --- Spent an entire day&night listening to full auto fire and dynamite the other weekend....Flinching stopped after 30 seconds or so. The 20mms still get to me as do the 50's when I stand in their muzzle blast.

Gee, let's panic and get all hyped up about that! Not. I'm not in a panic. Just pointing out that *if* the House of Saud falls *then* oil prices might rise a bit.
BPT is up 3% today. So today, I'm right.
Better luck tommorrow.
