put me on your list, too.
Also, I'm tired of the current strategy. It's getting nowhere AND it's getting no attention in the media.
This strategy is DOA. Time for a change or for someone to lob a legislative hand grenade.
To: TomGuy
OK, one more time with feeling!!!
Any bets (Bennettesque) on the outcome. I'm guessing: same old - same old.
To: RockBassCreek
I'll be glad to, but understand it's a list for ALL live threads of breaking news, okay??? Not just Estrada.

I can't believe it costs a million dollars to land a plane on an aircraft carrier. A million dollars to move the Presidential Entourage from the White House to the deck? Maybe.
I think it's just terrific that the dims think that W's speech was a campaign event and he should have to pay for it. Let's see... he HAD to make the end-of-hostilities announcement (somewhere). He, as the C-I-C had the prerogative to visit the troops anywhere and everywhere he (not Susan Estrogen) sees fit. He combines the two. I think he saved the government money.
Now, to speak to the topic, I know that W has a plan for these nominations, that he hasn't forgotten about them. I suspect, based on the Hatch leak yesterday, that the dims have been warned, they have one more chance today, but the battleship is already moving into position and if they don't vote for cloture today, the big artillery starts firing tomorrow. At least I hope so. But I trust the pres so I'm patient.

Pinged to all in Arkansas. We should have kept Hutchinson, but right now we need to get rid of Blanche Lincoln who so far has voted against Estrada everytime.
To: Howlin
Thanks for the ping. I still think it's all fascinating, I'm gonna do a few chores, run and be back in time to watch.

So far, the Republican Senate strategy appears to be simply to annoy the Democrats enough to convince them to give up. The electorate could care less about "getting it on the record." The record won't mean a thing next November. The Democrats may be playing with fire, but so far they haven't been so much as singed.

Why not blanket Frist, Talent, et al to take up the plan at hand.

I would not ever play poker with Dubya. I would advise Bill Bennett not to play poker with Dubya. I hope Dashole decides to play poker with Dubya, he will lose South Dakota.
To: TomGuy
I'll believe that the Senate majority is serious about judicial confirmations when they force the RATs to hold an honest-to-god continuous all night long filibuster.

New Lotto:
How many nominees will the Dims be filibustering simultaneously by the end of 2003? 2004?
I'd say, at least 4, probably 6 [because they can]--if the Pubs don't "grow some" soon.

Thanks for the ping! I've been off of caffeine for about three weeks. May have to start a caffeine intravenous drip this afternoon.

Nope; I use it for most government breaking news day to day.

I'm afraid the Pubbies (I vote for them, don'tcha know) haven't the guts to deal forcefully with the obstructionist UNCONSTITUTIONAL democrats.
