SPEND A FEW minutes with U.S. Rep. Ellen Tauscher, the most conservative Democrat in the Bay Area's congressional delegation, and you realize just how far to the right politics in Washington have shifted.

Very far.

Unbeknown to most Americans, she says, a "fundamentalist revolution" has taken place in the United States -- a revolution comparable to those that have taken place in the Islamic world.

In her early days in Congress, she distinguished herself for brokering deals between the Clinton White House and the Republican-controlled Congress. When Bush took office, she expected to play a similar role. Instead, like someone who was never invited to the prom, the phone never rang.

Hell hath no fury . . . .

In other words, she defines the term "moderate Democrat."

Nonsense. What exactly is a moderate Democrat? Perhaps it's someone who doesn't foam at the mouth while she spouts the same leftist claptrap that her extreme liberal cronies do.

Oh how she's changed! U.S. military domination? She's a loon who puts party above country. Read the following press release from March 25th, 1999:

TAUSCHER CALLS AIR STRIKES NECESSARY: URGES SUPPORT OF U.S. TROOPS IN BALKANS

Washington, DC -- Congresswoman Ellen O. Tauscher (D-Contra Costa/Alameda Counties), a member of the House Armed Services Committee who visited with U.S. troops in the Balkans on a fact-finding mission last December, today called the air strikes against President Slobodan Milosovich’s military necessary. She issued the following statement:

"Launching air strikes against President Milosovich is necessary to contain the problem in the Balkans and to stop the systematic killing of innocent men, women and children. We also need to put a premium on getting rid of Mr. Milosovich, the Bad Boy of the Balkans who has launched genocidal attacks against the ethnic Albanians in Kosovo.

"Mr. Milosovich has proven time and again that he is not going to keep his promises, that he is not going to negotiate in good faith and that he is going to continue his acts of genocide.

"After we threatened air strikes last fall, Milosovich begged for one more chance to do the right thing. We gave him that chance and he responded by continuing his reign of terror on the ethnic Albanians who make up 90% of all people in Kosovo. So far, he has killed more than 2,000 innocent people, has left 60,000 homeless and has dislocated 240,000 people from their communities. These air strikes are meant to degrade Mr. Milosovich’s military capabilities so that he can no longer level this campaign of violence against his own people.

"Put simply, Mr. Milosovich ran out of second chances a long time ago when he refused to negotiate with the Kosovar Albanians and NATO in good faith. We need to carry out these air strikes to force Mr. Milosovich to the table. Only Mr. Milosovich can stop the killing and give Kosovo back the autonomy that they enjoyed for years before he took it away.

"I was in an airplane in Sarajevo about to take off for Pristina in Kosovo last December when we found out that 31 innocent people had been killed that morning. I visited with the U.S. troops in Bosnia and in Macedonia, as well as with the NATO officers. The American people should know that our troops and the NATO command under U.S. leadership is ready to carry out this mission in an effective and efficient manner. There is complete unity among the NATO nations for these air strikes against Milosovich because we know that if we do not stop his reign of terror now, it very well may spread to the surrounding countries."

When you are wrong, and you know it, and you are being defeated in the arena of ideas,

everybody else is extreme.

I especially liked this comment... but, then it occurred to me that they do NOT know they are wrong. And that makes their repeated call for revolution much MUCH more dangerous. The radical left are providing themselves with the sheild of righteous indigation to rationalize pending violence.

Ironically that is actually what the Nazi's did.

...this kind of prolix denial may account for the Democrats' recent history-making losses.

Its a tantrum-like denial. The left is pissed off because the party is over. America suddenly got a morning look at the slut that seduced us in a drunken stupor of moral obfuscation. Tausher is reacting to our horror and disgust with her and her ilk. 911 was the alarm clock that ripped open the blinds. We just can't go back to sleep. America is awake and beginning to clean up the mess from the "decades of moral decadence" party.

The leftists, like Tausher, are still drunk on the sofa in a pool of their own vomit grazing cups for the last of the booze and bitching about the music being turned off.

Not just America, reality.

It's one thing to lie to the world.

It's a much more dangerous thing to lie to yourself.

Here are the 9 criteria. Having 5 of these 9 "qualifies" you as a narcissist...

1. Feels grandiose and self-importance (e.g., exaggerates achievements and talents to the point of lying, demands to be recognized as superior without commensurate achievements.)

2. Is obsessed with fantasies of unlimited success, fame, fearsome power or omnipotence, unequalled brilliance (the cerebral narcissist), bodily beauty or sexual performance (the somatic narcissist), or ideal, everlasting, all-conquering love or passion.

3. Firmly convinced that he or she is unique and, being special, can only be understood by, should only be treated by, or associate with, other special or unique, or high-status people (or institutions.)
4. Requires excessive admiration, adulation, attention and affirmation - or, failing that, wishes to be feared and to be notorious (narcissistic supply).

5. Feels entitled. Expects unreasonable or special and favourable priority treatment. Demands automatic and full compliance with his or her expectations.

6. Is "interpersonally exploitative", i.e., uses others to achieve his or her own ends.

7. Devoid of empathy. Is unable or unwilling to identify with or acknowledge the feelings and needs of others.

8.Constantly envious of others or believes that they feel the same about him or her.

9. Arrogant, haughty behaviours or attitudes coupled with rage when frustrated, contradicted, or confronted.

See a pattern here?

Malignant Narcissism! ...that's a good one.

Interesting! Is this (malignant narcissism) what happens to a culture when, in the fundamental belief system thought is replaced by feelings, actions by intentions, self-esteem by group identity, and rational self-interest by altruistic abandon? In such a state of decay, the most admired are the least endowed, competition favors depravity and fear is directed at those men and women that exhibit pride, honor, integrity, and character... fear in the form of hatred.

Malignant Narcissism is when your self image is all that's important.

More important than reality, truth, honesty, etc.

When you can lie to other people without a flinch, you are just a good liar. When you can convince yourself that you are a good person after commiting atrocities, you are a Malignant Narcissist.

M.Scott Peck's book "People of the Lie" is a very good description of Malignant Narcissism. The last chapter is about when a large group of poeple fall into self delusion and become evil.

Malignant Narcissism = Evil.

These people are evil no matter how you define it.

Sounds like a good read. Thanks for the recommendation.

The concept certainly helps explain the current state of the radical left at this point in history - forgetful at best, hypocritical in the least, and drooling madness like a rabid hyena. I am currently reading (for curious pleasure) The Perfect Storm. I can't help but feel like Captain Tyne, helplessly watching the growing swell, the increasing wind and the blackening sky wondering 'will we survive this one?'

Very scary, I read it because of my mother-in-law.
