The mother of a Laguna Hills woman accused of making a high-seas terrorist threat says she wouldn't have posted bail for her daughter even if a judge had granted it. Debra Ferguson tells the Los Angeles Times she could not risk her family's financial health by posting bail for her daughter, whom she calls a ``brat.''
Twenty-year-old Kelley Ferguson is accused of planting threatening notes aboard the Legend of the Seas in an effort to get the cruise ship to return to California so she could be reunited with her boyfriend. She was ordered held without bail after a prosecutor argued she is a flight risk.
Ferguson is charged with two counts of threatening acts of terrorism, and could face as much as ten years in prison on each charge.
Debra Ferguson says her daughter ``is going to have to stay in jail and learn her lesson.''

I wonder how the boyfriend feels now that he knows she is just a kook? Anyone hooked up with someone this obsessive needs to run fast. He knew all along that she's a kook- she bedded down with him and pays for things for him, so he know's she's nuts. He doesn't care so long as the sex is good.
I feel sorry for the mom- not only does she have a brat daughter, she's got a wussy husband.

Mom didn't "abandon her in jail." The kid earned her own way into jail and mom is doing the sensible thing- letting her daughter serve her time. Now if mom helps get her an attorney or asks the judge for leniency, then mom's as big a fool as if she had paid for bail, but here's hoping her little girl gets a non-nonsense judge, and gets to face a familial justice without Dad saving her bacon afterwards.
Don't be the type to rescue cats when they climp up into trees- just leave them there and they will find their way back down eventually. After all, when's the last time you saw a cat die of starvation in a tree? The same goes for kids who earn their way into jail. If kids know you'd let them stay in jail they would be careful not to ever end up there.

One of the clues that the notes were not a serious terrorist threat... all the '"i"s were dotted with little hearts. (jus kiddin')

Years ago I had this nutty tenant upstairs. After hurricane Gloria it took quite a while for LILCO to restore our electricity, and she was having fits by day 2.
She told me she called them up and told them she was going to plant a bomb at their plant if they didn't get here and fix the electric.
I nearly had a fit. Talk about stupid. She called from MY house to threaten them. If this had been post 9-11, she would have gotten strung up by the thumbs, and God help me, I might have ended up with my house torn apart.
I told her if she ever threatened anyone while under my roof again she could find a new place to live.

You can choose your friends, but not your blood relatives.

Sounds like 'Mom' did a s#i++y job during the first 19 years.Oh great... you showed up again. Still quick to place blame without facts. Another thread to avoid.

Actually, looking carelully at the photo of this unfortunate girl, she (a) looks stoned, and (b) has features of Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (eyes wide apart, flattened philtrum: the crest beneath the nose on the upper lip, odd facial structure, learning disablities).Agree, and I'd be surprised if her IQ breaks 100.

You just know this girl has spent her life playing one parent off against the other.

She looks like she got hit with the Chelsea stick! Maybe she did need to get back to that boyfriend, probably the only one she ever had, and will ever get.

I think you may be on to something.

Belittling her looks is just very mean spirited and uncalled for, imho. Normally it would be ---but for one she really is a little less good-looking than most 20 years olds....or most 30 year olds....or most 40 year olds.....and so on. Second how would you like it if she ruined a cruise you worked hard for and were looking forward to enjoying? But then when you saw her picture, you sort of understood why having a boyfriend might mean a little more to her than to someone who might have a lot of guys pursuing her. Maybe for her men weren't easy come easy go.

Congratulations?
I'm a postal window clerk and see lots & lots of dl photos, and none of them are good. I think it's a conspiracy being perpetrated by the DVM's nationwide. Plus, it gives cops a good laugh.

Thanks for the link: you do not have to have 100% of all Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS) features to make a diagnosis, but damned if cruise-girl isn't a close match to your image. Her LD and impulsive nature makes her suspect as well.
Having said this there is no excuse for her behavior, and she is going to receive quite the education. She also looks like many Caucasian female prison inmates I have seen over the years.
