[history]
The first season of PBS's "American Family," in which Edward James Olmos plays the conservative patriarch of a Hispanic Los Angeles family, comes out on DVD today.
But it's his role as another patriarch that's bound to get TV viewers in their 30s and 40s talking. Olmos is filming Sci Fi Channel's miniseries remake of the late '70s TV show "Battlestar Galactica." Olmos takes over the role of Commander Adama, originally played by the late Lorne Greene.

I kept waiting to see how they would screw this up. Thanks for posting on how they managed to do it. I really wish someone with imagination would buy Sci Fi and make it back into a real sci fi channel. Just say no to Scare Tactics.

I'll have to stand there and snicker at you both;
my crush was on Diana Rigg, evidence of far better taste IMHO. :)
(For that matter, even today, were I not happily married...)

Probably the Cylons can tell the difference. Sounds to me more like a remake of Terminator than Galactica, but with T3 coming this summer I've got Terminator on the brain.

I always wanted to get one of those posters. The ones which showed the smiling aliens and the words: "We are your friends."

Its such a shame Johnathan Harris can't reprise his voiceover of Lucifer. He was PERFECT, and he's missed. Get Gary Oldman to do his Dr. Smith impression, and I think you'll be happy with the substitution :)

You nailed it. I've seen that same movie. Mike, Crow, and Tom had a field day with that piece of crap.

Thunderbirds episodes are rerun (with Pop-Up Video-like commentary) on Tech TV.

I'm 47, you young whippersnapper... :) I was just about entering college when Space: 1999 first came out, if memory serves.

Sci-Fi drops Farscape (the bastards). Brings on Tremors the series (and it's series BTW ;-), and now this? Don't forget, they recently stuck Susan Sarandon in a miniseries about "The Children of Dune." She played an evil queen, I believe. I didn't watch it simply because she was in it. Who knows what they're thinking.

I think SCIFI is trying to reach the lowest common denominator in the IQ department. I only saw Space 1999 on a B&W TV when I was about 7 years old, but it was intriguing.
Give me Farscape any day. With luck, Showtime or HBO will pick it up. The fight continues!
