INC: Former Iraqi information minister negotiates surrender deal

27-04-2003, 20:56

An official at Iraq's leading opposition group, the Iraqi National Congress (INC) has disclosed to Al Bawaba that in the past two days there has been contacts with Mohammad Said al-Sahaf, Saddam Hussein's Information Minister, regarding his surrender. According to Nabil al Musawi, the deal will be completed soon.

Musawi said that although al-Sahaf's name is not included on the list of most wanted Iraqis by US forces, "he is wanted by the Iraqis".

Last week, the Portuguese daily Diario de Noticias reported that the minister whose briefings made him a worldwide celebrity during the recent war, tried to hand himself in via a contact with Portuguese journalists. (Albawaba.com)

"I'm quite sure the reports of his suicide were greatly exaggerated."

Well, there was a clip on Leno where he was proclaiming that he was really dead. LOL!

"The Portuguese report was that he was trying to surrender to U.S. forces, wasn't it? Does this mean we wouldn't take him?"

'Comical Ali' wanted to surrender

"Oh Pleeeaasee!!!! Let this be true!!!! "

LOL, YES! That's just how I feel. I was thinking that wasn't such a good way to think, but then I saw the quote where W said he got a kick out of old Bob too. I want this man to be redeemed, I can think of no greater rebuke to the vast culture of lies benighting the Arab world. He's got the comedy gene in him, and you just can't teach that! Maybe he could be the Center Square? A game show regular, you can work for years with a gig like that!

He'd make a great "stand-up comedian". If he had the right writers he could do Vegas, SNL, USO tours......

I wonder if he will go on TV and insist that there are no Americans in Baghdad?

I'd give anything to see this guy host SNL! If he would come out and just say, "Good evening, I am Baghdad Bob and I'm your host tonight, God willing," they'd tear the seats out of the place and blow out the microphones in a deafening bedlam.

He was quoted as saying, "Rumors of my recent suicide are greatly exaggerated."

Of course he's dead, why would he tell the truth about that?

While Baghdad Bob has been out of sight, we had another clown to laugh at, Baghdad Ali.

He's the enterprising poseur who proclaimed himself Mayor of Baghdad from a car top. He then proceeded to open offices in abandoned buildings and started taking applications for patronage jobs. He's now in the pokey for "taking unauthorized power".

While Baghdad Ali can't hold a candle to Baghdad Bob for style and chutzpah, he's at least on a par with Mayor Daley of Baghdad by the Lake.

We are already patrolling Baghdad in captured American tanks and taking down some of Saddam's statues for refinishing

Excellent!
