I hadn't heard about any killings in the last 12 years there Elinil, it happened almost 100 years ago, I think it's time for you to get over it.
And Special Forces DO NOT kill babies. They are as professional as our troops, and they get the job done, just as our troops do.
And I am not Muslim, AND unlike you, I have ACTUALLY met and worked with Turks and the Turkish military.
And your Baklava and Belly dancing thing is getting old, can't you come up with anything original?
That's right, Never mind, I forgot, racists are pretty stupid, so I guess that IS the BEST YOU can come up with.

YOu have an editorial streak a mile long, or did you NOT see the last line of my first post?
That's right, in your racist furor to attack me, you didn't bother reading the rest of my post, did you?
Get a grip Elinil, you're gonna get yourself banned.

America has some bad history. Some people want only to judge us for that..not dwell on anything positive. There is a history in that part of the world of much brutality and I hope the Kurds and the Turks can make peace and learn to live as neighbors.I prefer to look at the whole picture. We made peace with the Brits, fought a costly civil war,and made improvements in our society. If we can do it,others can.Our Constitution held us together.

Look, your posts to me have already been removed before. Your crass, low class comments to anyone who disagrees with you demonstrate to all your type. You want to play that game let's roll!
Racists are those like you who can't see past their long noses, who defend those who commit genocide and refuse to acknowledge their sins.
No go back and stick your mustache in the baklava.

The Turkish Special Forces team put up no resistance though a mean arsenal was discovered in their cars, including a variety of AK-47s, M4s, grenades, body armor and night vision goggles. "They did not come here with a pure heart," says U.S. brigade commander Col. Bill Mayville. "Their objective is to create an environment that can be used by Turkey to send a large peacekeeping force into Kirkuk."Turkey has no land grab schemes, eh, a_Turk? Remember when you called me brainwashed? I think you owe me an apology. Whatsa matter, too ashamed to show your face on this thread?

First off, history is history, Turkey has not done anything that even smacks of what you are talking about in over 100 years, I think that era is over.
You need to get over it.
Turkey BLEW it big time by not letting us send the 4th through their country, and they are going to suffer for it too.
Not because they are Muslim, not because they committed some atrocity 100 years ago, not because they are in Cyprus, but because they refused to allow us to go through their country to attack Iraq.
Emd of conversation, if it makes you happy to think that President Bush is petty enough to punish them for something that occurred in ancient history, well more power to you, but you should seek help.
Fact is, they screwed us, and for that they will be punished. That's a fact, and by sending a Special Ops unit into to Northern Iraq, that's pushing the limits of propriety BIG time.
They need to watch themselves VERY closely, because they could REALLY screw the pooch if they aren't careful.
They gave up ALL voice in what is happening in Iraq when they refused us entry, now they will have to live with the consequences.
Get over yourself Elenil, I like the Turks, but I can see that they have messed up BIG time, but I on the other hand do not have this overpowering hatred that you do towards the Turks. I feel more sorry for them then angry, but that could change if they do anything else that could cause a MAJOR crisis in Iraq.
You on the other hand have this overwhelming hatred that just cannot see the forest for the trees, which is too bad, because then you would realize how important strategically that Turkey is to us, although with Iraq with us now, that may be changing as well.
Yes, I am rather fond of the Turks, but it does not keep me from saying that they screwed the POOCH BIG time with their actions.

Can we please send Jesse to go talk with Castro..... maybe he can educate him in the fine sport of Nascar, and get Castro's mind off of imprisoning dissidents and executing a few here and there. Jesse would enjoy that challenge.

"Last week's Insight Magazine said that there were whispered rumors of a military coup in the making."
That I can believe. I do not think the Turkish military wants a Muslim ruling parliment. As mush as I don't approve of military coups, it worked for Pakistan for now, and maybe it should happen in Turkey now. We can deal effectively with their military. *nodding*

IN all honesty, I don't believe it is a land grab, I think that they want to see the Kurds are not allowed their own country, they are still scared to death that that is going to happen, a Kurdish nation next door would be their Palestine. They do not look forward to that possibility.
Fact is though, they need to chill out, we gave them guarantees that the Kurds would not become a separate entity, and we will keep that promise. The problem is that they screwed us and now they are running scared and doing what they feel is necassary to protect their interests.
Turkey needs to sit on their side of the border and let it happen, they did this to themselves, and they are just going to make a BAD situation WORSE.

I agree with that 100%, but don't tell that to Elinil, he/she/it will attack you for even thinking the Turkish military is effective in any way, shape, or form.

Oh, and I do not have a mustache, sorry, another low comment ruined. YOu need to get over your anger, it seems to effect your thinking in a rather negative way.
And the Racist remark towards you, from me, still stands. Your racism towards Turks is as obvious as the Lips on Mick Jagger.

I appreciate your reasoning, but disagree completely. What Turkey wants is oil. They were accustomed before the war to endless convoys of oil tankers streaming into Turkey out of Iraq carrying illegal Iraqi crude. That was shut off by the war and the Turkish economy is in a real pinch -- even moreso than before. The fact that they are centering their destabilization efforts at Kirkuk is very telling.
Your reasoning follows the conventional wisdom -- like the fiction that Turkey's pre-war actions were in part to protect itself from the flood of refugees that would begin after the war started. The fact is that the Kurds have a very nice democracy going now (comparatively speaking) and the flow will be the other way if anything, thereby negating your "Palestine" theory (also worn out, conventional wisdom).
Sorry, but you have to think out of the box on this one.

Well, either way, Turkey cannot do a thing about it, they made their bed, they have to lay in it.
The Turkish military is NONE too happy about it though, the civilian government I believe is on the edge, and if the military takes over, this whole situation could take on a new look. The military CAN be dealt with, the party in power, well, that's questionable after looking at their actions.
I can think out of the box, and I can see where your reasoning comes from and where it's going, I hope the Turks don't do anything stupid, I like them, and really do not wish to see them suffer because of their governments stupidity. And I don't want to see the Kurds suffer because of it either.

It is the Turks version of the "religious right", the Islamists newly elected to power who are ordering these stunts. They are politically naive and think just like the rest of Islamic conservatives: only with a pan-Islamic World will there ever be peace. Kind of obvious now that they really, really did not want us in Iraq.
Like all religious fanatics they are nuts.
