Since you choose not to answer my other question here's another: Do you support the renewal of the '94 Assault Weapon Ban? And if so why?

...I don't know what "other conservatives" you're talking about, I've never met one that describes Ronnie as "dissapointing"....In that case you need to read more accounts of the Reagan years, amigo. Become a little more informed? Peggy Noonan's book would be a good start. Mr Reagan disappointed the passionate conservative faction at the White House many a time: Paul Weyrich is one, as I recall. There's nothing automatically wrong with that- that's the way it works when you're in office, and dealing with competing interests who must be placated. But FR is not in any politician's pocket. Our role is the gadfly, on the right side of the GOP elephant. When it leans left, we should sting until the lean's corrected.

Yes I do.
The banned models are more often than not, or were in the past, used in the commission of crimes more than for any other reason.
While I do understand that most law-abiding citizens would use these automatic weapons reponsibly, I don't want my police force out-gunned by a bunch of crack-dealing punks. Something that happened very often in Miami during the heyday of the Cocaine cowboys.
My wife and stepson (at the time) were caught in a gun battle in a grocery store parking lot, luckily they did not get hurt, but others did.

AK-47 NEW 7.62X39: 1 ten & 30 round clips, FOID required Salem (618)292-0517 Save ad I know what someone is talking about when they are selling an "ak47". But for someone like you who is referring to the specifics of this ban, you have mislabled the gun. This is not an ak47. This is a semi-auto rifle and it doesnt clarify whether it is pre or postban. The ban has nothing to do with actual ak47's either.
Whether you use clip or magazine the issue as it concerns the ban is a size over 10 rounds. AK clips in general are not banned. You can still buy old magazines over 10 rounds depending on the configuration of the rifle, which is another load of nonsense.
This ban is propaganda put into law.

"Become a little more informed?"I am quite well informed, thank you for your concern.
Unfortunately for all us ideologues, there is a whole lot of other people in this country whose opinions are as valid as ours, and they get to push as well.
Not only that, but they have a right to expect their issues to be considered by the president.
The president is president of all Americans, and must listen to the wishes of all Americans, not just the ones who voted for him.

I find it ironic that this thread sat virtually idle during the time of AnnaZ's show but it exploded when a handfull of folks showed up after the show was over.
...
that was strange.....and for sure they were not listening and for sure did not want others to listen either which was why they didn't bump it during the show. Someone might find out the truth that they try and cover up about this issue which is President Bush by signing this he would be trashing the second amendment.
Annaz tried asked the WH for someone to be on for the first hour and give their side and they did not even bother to respond let alone have someone on.
Good-Night

..of the people pictured, which one do you think will care about the issues that FReepers care about?...President Bush, of course.
Please don't get the idea I'm some kind of Bush hater, Luis. I'm forever grateful to him for saving us from Gore, for starters. I honestly don't think it's a good idea to risk Nov 2004 without the one hundred percent support of the NRA and gunowners. Cheers, By

Pushing the White House to not sign the ban will rally the opposition.
More people against assault weapons than for them.

The banned models are more often than not, or were in the past, used in the commission of crimes more than for any other reason. They account for less then 2% of crime committed with firearms.
While I do understand that most law-abiding citizens would use these automatic weapons reponsibly, I don't want my police force out-gunned by a bunch of crack-dealing punks. Something that happened very often in Miami during the heyday of the Cocaine cowboys.
These are not automatic weapons. This ban has nothing to do with AK47's. The heyday of drug smugglers and their growing number of murders is ever increasing. But then you dont have a problem with our open borders and lack of law enforcement. They bring up the crime rate and you want to ban our guns. nice.

Yes.
The legal market is eliminated, when you remove a portion of the market, then procuring goods becomes more difficult.

That's your opinion...and it's not an anti-gun lobby, this ban addresses a limited number of makes and manufacturers.
I don't agree with you on this.
It doesn't make you right, or me wrong.

"...you have mislabled the gun." No I haven't, I didn't write the add. Heeh, the ban doesnt deal with real AK47's whether the guy was actually selling one or not. Obviously he isnt selling a NEW AK47 machine gun over the net. You mislabled the gun because you dont know what you are talking about as far as the ban goes.
This is a big reason why this ban needs to go. You yourself are arguing against machine guns in support of this ban when what we are talking about is semi-auto rifles. It is misleading propaganda.
