Mary Jo Kopecne hmmm very similar...will the result be different? Why?

The murder in Modesto and the subsequent circumstances reminded me of an event 25 years ago. From a Google search.

Sealed Records are still another phenomena largely reserved for the politically well-connected. In cases where a legitimate criminal or civil inquiry is made which would prove damning to an individual or agency, in many cases that repost is sealed, prohibiting civilians from ever reading it. Now I understand that some documents regarding war efforts are sealed as a matter of national security, but why are the following documents sealed?

The Ted Kennedy accident report regarding the death of Mary Jo Kopecne remains sealed to this day. For those unfamiliar with ancient history, a drunk Ted Kennedy drove his car off the Chappaquidick bridge with Miss Kopecne inside. Kennedy abandoned the vehicle and left Miss Kopecne to drown. He did not report the accident to authorities until the following day. When the car was pulled out of the water, forensic evidence proved that Miss Kopecne was not only conscious, but had been able to survive for some duration with air trapped inside the car. If Kennedy had made even a feeble attempt to secure assistance there is a reasonable chance she could have been saved.

Why is it that all of the evidence regarding this event has been sealed and remains so to this day?

There is no mention of Mary Jo being pregnant in this article...it was only speculation at the time... as with the Clinton associated deaths there was no autopsy performed. Why not? Do you think? nah....well maybe...hmmm

Chappaquidick happened 34 years ago, not 25. Playing fast and loose with such things (hey, it's only nine years difference) leads me to question the investigative skills of this writer.
Scott Peterson will be executed by the State of California by 2025.

25 years or 34...I suspect it depends on the age of the article.. the circumstances are not in question..so.. what's the beef? Seems to be a little lame to me. Is your name Kennedy?

The story that strikes me as most similiar is that of Ann Marie Fahey, murdered by her lover, a prominent married attorney Tom Capano. She threatened to end the affair, I believe, so he hacked her up, stuffed her into an igloo, and took her out on a boat and dumped her in the ocean. His brother helped him dump the igloo and not until he saw a body part sticking out of it (he says), did he know Tom had a body on board.

His alibi? I saw her at dinner last night and dropped her home. Nothing more.

Depends how much money you have and how it's spread around.

I'm sorry, I don't see the connection.

The Fahey murder has reminded my family a lot of Laci Peterson's murder. The cooler Capano put her in and dumped in the ocean made it back to shore and eventually helped convict him. He was another arrogant man who thought he was going to get away with it. He got the death penalty, although I believe he is now appealing it.

The Kennedy's get out of everything don't you realize that? THey are a truly pitiful family.

The joke around Massachusetts at the time was that even the Neil Armstrong walk on the moon, which happened the same week-end,was superceded by another Kennedy story.

Last night, I was watching Goodfellas, and the part where Joe Pesci beat up and killed the mob boss and they had to go bury him out in New Jersey.

And I thought about how similar it was to the Laci Peterson case....

Yep, you got it exactly right. The similarities are minor, but creepy all the same. I was amazed the igloo cooler helped convict him, considering it was found by a fisherman who turned it in after he saw the bullet hole in it. (when Capano tried to make it sink, even though he had loaded it with weights). Another tragedy.

Right you are. Oh, and there is the little matter of getting Miss Kopechne's name spelled correctly (it's Kopechne not Kopecne). You would really have to wonder about how deeply they researched to get the name spelled correctly and the math on the date right.

Still, the point is well taken, that there is much that is still under wraps.

Oh yeah, there are so many similarities between the two cases, it is just plain spooky.

Just like Marilyn Monroe's death now looks like a murder at the hands of Bobby Kennedy.

However, like clones, the Kennedy family is experiencing a poorer quality member with each succeeding generation.

I am confident the ones in place right now cannot win any elections of any substance.

Their last, best hope was JFK, Jr.

Those are fighting words to a conservative who abandoned MA for OH. If I had a glove, I'd slap your face and call for a duel ;-) There is no comparison betwen Peterson and Kennedy (and I hate The Kennedy family). Peterson is guilty as hell.

Wow..The "hair splitting" by the people on this forum boggles the mind... especially with all the misspellings perpetrated by at least 25% of them...

The object of the post was the Drowning of a pregnant woman by someone close to them for reasons that MIGHT be similar....and the comparison of the prosecutions in both cases...

I realize it might take a little more complex thought process but I think you will be able to handle it... if you take your time.

...25 years ago, Mary Jo said "Teddy, I think I'm pregnant".

Reportedly, Teddy said: "We'll cross that bridge when we get there..."
