MGM In Talks With Sarandon/Robbins Over 9-11 Movie!!
Posted on 04/21/2003 7:13:17 AM PDT by jonalvy44
Dear MGM:
Please, no, no, no, say it isn't so! Don't defile the memories of the victims of 9-11 by allowing Mr. and Mrs. Sarandon to be involved with anything related to this national tragedy...Their blatant anti-Americanism taints any effort on their part to attempt to create a film about this event. This is not only disgraceful, it will not be financially successful for your company. The American public just won't tolerate it.

Please contact MGM and tell them that this would be a disgrace for them to be involved with...I am totally disgusted.

Wednesday, 13 February, 2002, 14:15 GMT Film plan for Twin Towers hero
Susan Sarandon is an Oscar winning actress
Hollywood couple Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon are to make a film about the 11 September attacks in New York, focusing on the bravery of a British security officer. Robbins and Sarandon are to base their film on the bravery of Rick Rescorla, a Cornwall-born war hero, who died in the attacks saving thousands of people.
Susan Greer holds a photo of her husband
The film is based on an article by James Stewart in the New Yorker magazine, All The Heroes Are Dead, and is one of three productions about the attacks on the Twin Towers currently in planning.
Rescorla moved to the US a the age of 23 and served in the US army in Vietnam, his exploits later recounted in the book - and now film, We Were Soldiers - in which he was described as a "battlefield legend".
Drama unfold
He was the head of security at Morgan Stanley Dean Witter and died evacuating people from one of the New York towers.
In 1993, he was the last to leave the tower when a bomb was found in the centre.
Rick Rescorla has been called a "battlefield legend"
As the buildings came under attack he phoned his wife at home, who was watching the drama unfold on television .
He told her: "I don't want you to cry. I have to evacuate some people now. If something happens to me, I want you to know that you made my life."
Oscar-winning actress Sarandon will play Rescorla's wife Susan Greer, and she and Robbins hope to have a studio deal in place shortly.
The film will concentrate on the love story between the couple, described as "two fractured people who found each other late in life and enjoyed a storybook romance".
The World Trade Center disaster will provide a cruel finale to the film.
MGM has made a deal with writer Lawrence Wright to adapt his New Yorker article The Counter-Terrorist, while ABC is preparing a major documentary based on Dennis Smith's book Report from Ground Zero.

I'm with you. I sent a freep-mail on their corporate website protesting Sarandon/Robbins being in any way affiliated with a 9/11 venue. I hope other freepers will do the same. Our voice must be heard!

I find it very interesting that an NBC special about the life of Bob Hope, an American patriot if there ever was one, and a man who traveled millions of miles to bring happiness and a bit of home to our troops, FAR out rated Susan Sarandan's TV movie last Sunday night.
I hope this distintion is paid attention to by Hollywood bigs, who will be making a very bad business decision if they taint any 9-11 movie by putting the two 2 lefty traitors Robbins and Sarandan in it.

In case anyone hasn't noticed, this article is fourteen months old.
Also, I just checked a couple of film production databases and couldn't find anything suggesting such a project exists. The only thing Sarandon has in the pipeline at all in some touchy-feely piece of crap called "A Whale in Montana" that has about as much to do with 9/11 as "Caddyshack" did.
It appears the article "All The Heroes Are Dead" was optioned, it got a little press in February 2002 based on the optioning alone, and then the deal fell apart. There's not going to be any movie.

Your scenarios sound about right--and it might be
both, rather than either-or. What we need to do is (a) make very sure that the movie
does lose lots of money, (b) do our best to have the real story told via O'Reilly and other talk show hosts, and (c) support a decent 9/11 movie that might follow this one.
I think the U.S. public is a much different entity since 9/11 and the Iraq war. Hollywood "activists" like Sarandon are not as well received as they once were. The only ones hanging on their every word are their die-hard fans and the far left. People ignored (in droves) CBS's highly-touted Sunday night movie starring Sarandon. It's possible they'll not only ignore her 9/11 movie, but heap derision on it as well.

Who's going to go watch these two in any movie? Let alone one about Sept. 11? Hope they have a lot of money to burn.

...Talk Radio Host HUGH HEWITT just appeared on the Los Angeles TV Station KTLA-5 Morning News and remarked about the SARANDON's expressing their views and the country's negative reaction to them in the market place:
"With the Right to Express your views about an Issue comes Ressponisblity for those views. when the Marketplace responds negatively to them. It's a market thing, not a Government Thing."
Issue Definition personified, HUGH.

Well, then if most of us stay away from the movie, then it shouldn't have an effect on the elections, right? If only diehard liberals patronize the flick, it shouldn't matter since they believe what they want to believe, regardless of the facts anyhow. Ya think?

Great idea!

Perhaps they will think twice after seeing the ratings for the most recent tv movie Susan Sarandumb was in. The one about the female doc who had breast cancer.. in the artic (or North Pole, but at any rate was STUCK there) and was flown out. It got the lowest ratings for that night. Very low!! My friend and I had both said we would have watched it, but for Sarandumb.
Its ratings in New York were even lower than in other cities!!!
I wish I'd kept that article now.. I think it was on Drudge!

It will be a chance for the LIBS to re-write history, and paint HILLARY as the HERO that she feels she is. BUSH = THE MAN
Hillary = The Scam

Thanks for the ping, MeeknMing, as always.
This riled me up big time, too, until I read Timesinks's post #108 (where he checked it out). This is a really old story.
Oh, well, folks got a chance to to some good venting, eh? LOL. Looks like it's safe to say there won't be a chance in heck of this movie being made with those two in it, thank goodness!

...Standby One, Please.
...Others are checking into this further in the "Business."
...The SARANDAON's did quickly buy up the RESCORLA Love Story, including his Lifesaving Lifetime, after the Attacks of 9/11 for a Movie they want to make.
...The Timing of its Release, at the release time of MICHAEL MOORE's new book about a supposed BUSH "Connection" to OSAMA bin LADEN, would suit a Presidential Candidate HILLARY's needs to a "T"
...Don't you think..?
