FOX NEWS CHANNELS FOX & FRIENDS DEFEATS BROADCAST NETWORK FOR THE SECOND CONSECUTIVE WEEK Thu Apr 17 2003 16:54:06 ET
For the second week in a row, Fox News Channels (FNC) morning program, Fox & Friends defeated CBSs The Early Show across the board, according to Nielsen Media Research.

Last week there was a Letter to the Editor in our local paper, from a man complaining that FOX NEWS was not available on the local cable TV. He gave examples of why CNN is not to be trusted and chided the local cable company for "denying local residents of 'truth in news'. Today the town is abuzz......."FOX NEWS is now available on channel 44"!!!
Incredible!!!! I have DIRECTV, so have been getting it for a long time. This morning a friend called me up and excitedly proclaimed, "I am watching FOX & FRIENDS on channel 44!!!!" Darned if he wasn't!!!! Miracles are happening!!!

We've been blessed to have had Fox News on our cable system since almost the very beginning.
Does anyone else out there remember when the hosts were Louis Aguirre and Allison Costarene?
Louis was also the news reader, Steve Doocy was weather and Brian Kilmeade was sports (before sports became "dead"). This was before the name Fox & Friends existed (they had a viewer contest to select the new name of the show).

I remember it vividly. I was a regular caller. I used the name George from Georgia.

One week's win in the ratings is a blip. Two weeks is outstanding!!! The crunch will be next week when there is no war to speak of. Congratulations Fox and Friends.

Jennifer's got an impressive resume AND she's got that wind-blown hair effect going for her.

Another sign that Fox and Friends is really kicking butt is that it is live across the country, so it is over by 6 a.m. in the West.
I hadn't thought of that. 25 million less available eyeballs, and the west coast is out of it. Awesome.
Of course, if it wasn't for TIVO, I wouldn't see it either.

So, can you help me with the actual name of the morning show back then? For some reason, it has been totally erased from my brain!

thanks for post 91. I needed that.

It's infuriating when you have to stay at hotels and FOX News is not even an option. In fact, strangely enough, most hospitals do not offer FOX News. Sheeeesh. Why?! At the VA Hospital in Fresno, they have CNN blaring in eating areas and waiting areas. I doubt if FOX News is an option. WHY?????????!!!!!!!!! I totally agree... somehow we've GOT to get CNN outta the hospitals and airports.

Case in point Jefferson City, Missouri: Capitol Plaza Hotel, news stuck on CNN and no Fox. I complained daily about how I missed my FOX and how I hated having CNN forced down my throat. The concierge replied that "the Governor (Holden, a Democrat) had mandated the change! I replied that last time I checked the "Governor" wasn't the one paying my hotel bill, and if they ever wanted to have my business or my company's business ever again, FOX better be available 24/7 and pronto! ALso planted a bug in their ear about possible criminal FCC violations by "his nibs" if this were indeed true! Wow... way to go!

My dad was in the hospital a few weeks ago and was pretty ill (doing o.k. now...he has 9 lives)but it was serious enough for my sister to fly from Las Vegas to Boston to visit w/him because we weren't sure he'd make it through this one. Anyways, we spent the whole week at the hospital forced to watch CNN. I usually took my dad's volume control and turned it all the way down. That way we could watch what was going on but didn't have to watch Judy WoofWoof. No FOX at this hospital. I hope I don't end up there (knock on wood) because there is gonna be some stink!. I did make my Mom laugh a lot by blowing kisses at my George W. everytime I saw him. My Dad is a George too. That's my Fox vs. CNN story of late.
By the end of his hospital stay, my sister was convinced that we had turned Mom and Dad around to accepting this war and even thinking differently of Georgie. Poor folks..they don't have cable and my Mom watches KK, etc. every morning.

I got my mom to watch Fox News Channel (finally) after years of watching the Collaborators News Network. Her mood during the war went from despair to confidence in a few days and she said she's never going back to CNN! Wahoo!
Now to work on my aunt...

Steve is the wittiest anchor on TV. Very quick on his feet. Yes, in fact many of his jokes are so quick his co-anchors are too distracted to get them all! (But I try!)
