04-15-03- I was going to write an Op-ed today to go with our weekly Hall of Fame and Hall of Shame awards.
Then Tim Robbins spoke to the National Press Club today. I've recorded it for your listening disgust. To say it's beyond the pale is an understatement.
He has declared war on the 77% of the people in this country who support our president, this country and our troops.
Here is the audio.
Hollywood-Hero needs to say, one more time for the record, free speech does not mean free of consequences.
Freedom to choose what we watch, rent or buy does not equal a blacklist. It's called capitalism.
Actors are free to speak their mind, oppose the war, malign our president.
We, who disagree with their blanket dismissal of what most of America believes, are free to dissent.
We are free to decide NOT to watch a film, buy a CD, or rent a video.
That's where our power is and that's what they are really afraid of. The buying power of the American public, the ones who allow them the lifestyles they enjoy.
There is no Hollywood Blacklist as they infer by bringing back this new form of McCarthyism in the guise of a Republican Administration.
This isn't even a boycott, it's about our country, our freedom to choose who we give our largess to in the form of our buying choices.
If Hollywood can't take the heat of their own convictions, perhaps they should find another line of work that would better suit them.

Oh good Lord! Tim is bringing up the "50,000 uncounted black votes in Florida" that suspiciously allowed Bush to elected. These sick fools have never gotten over the election. Every day that passes, they are filled with more hatred and bitterness over the reality that the Klintoon era ended and couldn't be extended. They simply will not accept that reality and move on. They'll never get over it, and it's driving them insane. To behold their self-destruction is a thing of beauty.

Further note to self: Libs were already on the brink of sanity with the USSR gone & Socialism dying...what defines these people now, other than their reflexive and often baffling "opposition for the sake of opposition"? The Hollow Men...

They have no ideas of their own to offer. They are totally negative and obstructive. The way D@sshole behaves in the Senate is a perfect example of their methods. All he does is whine, complain, obstruct, and criticize. He never has an alternative to offer; he never makes a constructive contribution. All he does is tear down and destroy.

Yes, I always thought Robbins had a kind of unnaturally
smooth and ageless looking mug, apparently hairless, unlined, and without character. The exact word for it is "epicene".

SING FOR THE CLYMER HERE The guy pretending he is for free speech has done the following:
1. Tried to do Liz Hurley for doing a non-union commercial (she apologized profusely)
2. Threatened the life of writer Lloyd Grove for writing about his family
3. Led a boycott against Proctor and Gamble
For Timmy and the left, free speech only works for them.

.....filled with more hatred and bitterness over the reality that the Klintoon era ended and couldn't be extended..... Tim finished answering the reporter's questions by making a smarmy comment about how horrible it would be if a President actually had a personal affair that didn't affect his ability to govern and then was hounded from office.
Yup. He's in DEEP denial.

I hope Robbins isn't totally blacklisted. I'd like to see him make a sequel to
Bob Roberts.Bob Roberts is the best film that Robbins ever made IMO. BR is one of the funniest political comedies ever made. In the film Robbins portrays a right-wing Republican candidate for senate and he does it so well that many conservatives ended up loving the character, which I'm sure was unintentional. Sort of like Archy Bunker. Norman Lear created a character we were all supposed to hate, but Carrol O'Connor made him a character we came to admire.
What's really ironic about this situation is that Sen. Bob Roberts would LOVE what Bush did in Iraq. BR was made right before the first Gulf War and in the film candidate Roberts calls for "stopping" Saddam.

I think it's disgusting people going after Robbins. Just disgusting.
Here's a guy who has made so many people happy through his motivational tapes and infomercials, helping people take forceful action and walk on hot coals to prove they CAN get up from their dull boring lives. That's a man that has helped a LOT of people and who cares if he's wrong?

Whoops, typo alert. He didn't try to "do" Liz Hurley. He tried to ruin her for doing a non-union commercial.

I must have been out of country when Mr Sarandon defended Dr Laura against the economic boycott and media pressure campaign initiated by the queers....

You know, I seem to remember a black football player who did soup commercials. That football player made some statements about homosexuals that got a lot of people mad. It wasn't long until that football player was replaced on the commercials. I didn't hear Janeane, Susan, Tim, or Martin jumping to his defense.

It's similar to how the UN security council has rendered itself irrelevant, Susan Sarandon, Tim Robbins and an array of other celebrities did it to themselves as have certain Democrats and President Chirac, the French government and to a lesser degree the Russian and German governments. Not to mention an assortment of special interest do-gooder groups. They just can't seem to get out of the way of themselves fast enough. They are their own worst enemies.

You've probably got that backwards. Robbins was a Red Diaper baby -- his parents were Stalinists. He's a Marxist from birth.
Since Sarandon's mom is more conservative, the odds are that Robbins converted her (or only dated her after she'd independently converted).

No wonder! He said that Ari Fleischer should only call on the reporters in the back of the room (the ones put in the back because they are the only ones who question the Bush Administration) and said that the press was basically a shill for President Bush. Just shows how often Robbins actually WATCHES the White House press briefings. Helen Thomas sits DEAD CENTER in the FRONT ROW!!!!!!!!
To: mel
You have got to be kidding and just what has he been doing Yup. He condemns Petrovsky, yet he used his own position as a Hollywood celeb to make a political statement. Or should I say, he abused his position, because he and his ilk have done far more than make political statements. They have smeared and slandered Bush and portrayed Saddam as an innocent victim. I could respect someone who opposed the war based on true pacifism, but these degenerates portrayed Bush as a madman and a criminal. Since their arguments are both morally and intellectually bankrupt, they resorted to the ad hominem attack, and the way they calumniated a good and righteous man serves as proof of their own wickedness and depravity.
