Actor Ron Silver, addressing the Pro-USA and pro-troops rally in Washington DC today and responding to his introduction as a "prominent linberal" said "I think you've seen the end of my days as prominent liberal."
"Peace at what risk? Peace on whose terms? Peace for how long?" he went on. "There are worse things than war. People who think nothing is worth a war is worse."
The enthusiastic crowd cheered as Silver evoked Elie Wiesel and the lessons learned through the horrors of Nazi Germany, enunciating the reasons for America's humanitarian intervention in Iraq.
Following Silver, Linda Chavez remarked that she herself was a former liberal, and invited Silver to join the conservative ranks. "We ought to have a support group for ex-liberals," she said, laughing.
I disagree. There are so many "ex-liberals" in the conservative movement, I suggest that we retake the label "liberal" and reclaim our rightful place championing the true cause of real liberal democracy as opposed to the bloody socialist madness pushed by them. We truly support freedom, equality, opportunity, justice. They don't. So called "liberals," such as Teddy Kennedy, Tom Daschle and Hillory Clinton have hijacked those ideals, claimed them for themselves, and use them for one purpose only, to enrich themselves.
The definition of "Conservative" is someone who seeks to maintain the status quo. That is clearly not us. That is the definition of the Democrat party now. They wish to maintain and increase the bueracracies and power base built up over the last 75 years, regardless of the harm that it does to real poeople, to freedom and to human progress.
I am a real liberal, in the true sense of the word, just as Jefferson, Franklin, Washington and Adams were. I am a progressive, just as Lincoln and Teddy Roosevelt were. I am an advocate of doing new things to enhance the freedom and power of the people, instead of the government, just like Ronald Reagan and George W Bush have done throughout their Presidencies. I call myself a conservative in casual conversation so that I will conform to the news media's twisted definitions and fit into their pre-defined voting block. I will do so no longer.
let's start calling the so-called liberals what they truly are: fascists and socialists. The concept of fascism derives from the Roman tradition that the person, in the Roman Senate, who holds the bundle of sticks (the "fasci") is at that moment in power, in control of the Senate and controls what happens. Fascists believe that they are in the right because they have the power. That, I think, sums up Bill and Hill and little Tommy. Remember, NAZI is an acronym for the National Socialist party. Saddam's Ba'athist's are (were)Islamic Socialists. We are truly in a battle between civilaziation and barbarism.
Let's take back our language and deny them their Orwellian definitions of who is who and what is what.
Hold on now, there are some even we tolerant conservatives don't want to be associated with, such as Streisand, Baldwin, Asner, Sarandon and their ilk, we can only stoop so low. :-}
Actually, a substantial number are Secular Jews rather than Believing Jews. They regard their Jewishness as a kind of non-demanding social club, like the Shriners or Freemasons, with the God of Moses as only a faint memory or allegorical reference. Secular Jews resent Israel because it is an historical reminder that Jews are called by a living God to be a chosen people. They resent Christianity not because they perceive Christianity as anti-Semitic, but because Christianity has at its core the worship of the God of Moses through a Jewish messiah.
Into the category of Secular Jews I would place the New York Times and a lot of others in the liberal US news and entertainment media. Of course, there are Secular Jews who are conservative, as well, but in their case they have a certain nostalgia for the God of Moses -- though not outright belief.
It shouldn't. Look through the archives of lamestream news from the time Hitler took power in 1933 almost until he invaded Poland-- it is full of accounts of this natty dresser, the lady's man, his sophisticated tastes in classical music, his revitilazation of the German economy while the rest of the world groaned under the weight of the great depression, his fine manners and his health-conscious non-smoking. You would've thought the guy was a reincarnation of George Washington, just as the press painted Fidel Castro and Ho Chi Minh three decades later.
Welcome to the RIGHT, in more ways than one.
