Actor Ron Silver, addressing the Pro-USA and pro-troops rally in Washington DC today and responding to his introduction as a "prominent linberal" said "I think you've seen the end of my days as prominent liberal."
"Peace at what risk? Peace on whose terms? Peace for how long?" he went on. "There are worse things than war. People who think nothing is worth a war is worse."
The enthusiastic crowd cheered as Silver evoked Elie Wiesel and the lessons learned through the horrors of Nazi Germany, enunciating the reasons for America's humanitarian intervention in Iraq.
Following Silver, Linda Chavez remarked that she herself was a former liberal, and invited Silver to join the conservative ranks. "We ought to have a support group for ex-liberals," she said, laughing.

Wish I'd been there. Silver made me proud.

If Silver can be converted, anyone can. This guy used to be way to the left.

Let's hope this is just the tip of the iceberg for Hollywood. I won't hold my breath, but you never can tell.

The enthusiastic crowd cheered as Silver evoked Elie Wiesel and the lessons learned through the horrors of Nazi Germany, enunciating the reasons for America's humanitarian intervention in Iraq. A substantial number of the anti-war crowd are anti-Semitic, so the example of Nazi Germany makes no impression on them.

Amazing. Who could ever have imagined the guy famous for uttering, "Those are
our planes now" at Clinton's inauguration, could actually grow to love the bomb.
As the story went, he was initially disgusted by the show of force of the jets overhead at the ceremony until he realized that Clinton was now in charge, not some "evil Republican."

Following Silver, Linda Chavez remarked that she herself was a former liberal, and invited Silver to join the conservative ranks. "We ought to have a support group for ex-liberals," she said, laughing. Oh no. Not more impure new-conservatives, neo-cons they will never be pure ideaolgues. We are selling out to win elections. (/sarcasm)

So Ron, are they "your" planes again now that you've seen the light?
I love it when people come to their senses and realize that we're right. And it's doubly sweet when it's a Hollyweirder!

In the last few years we have been winning quite a few elections. A sure sign of failure. We need to make the purity test a little harder.

"A substantial number of the anti-war crowd are anti-Semitic, so the example of Nazi Germany makes no impression on them." It still is astounds me how these people can be anti-semitic, and then turn right around and accuse Republicans and conservatives of being Nazis. This a huge disconnect.

I remember an episode of Chicago Hope or some such show back when I used to watch the networks. Silver's charachter testified at a senate hearing with Ted Kennedy prominately featured. Silvers charachter (and it wasn't a stretch)couldn't have been more liberal, made me want to puke. Now that I think about it, I beleive that may been the last episode I watched.
But I know how fast the metamorphosis can be when coming over from the dark side. As an ex-liberal myself, I know that the truth, when it finally brakes through, hits you like a ton of bricks. There is no going back. If my experiences are common, Mr. Silver will find himself hanging with a new crowd in short order...and he'll be much happier.
