I'm at work in the morning so I never get to see the "Fox Friends" show, but at least FoxNews saves their real "fox" for late-night! And unless I'm mistaken, CNN and MSNBC sucks Greta's dust at 10PM.

The trouble with MSNBC is that you have to take a chance when you tune in......sometimes there's something worthwhile but often it's unbearable. Best to stick to FNC.

This is Hugh! We should start calling them The Early Slow on CBS!

It's a series threat to the networks :)

Mind you, if I were a Nielsen household, I'd only watch Fox.

But as long as no one knows about it, I feel okay flicking to MSNBC's news coverage.

They broke the Saddam restaurant hit story, for example. (Though Fox had all the details... way too many details, actually, IMHO. Rita Cosby broke the news that we had decrypted Saddam's "Jaguar" phone system, which is a fact I don't think we needed to know.)

Every one has to keep in mind, too, that Fox is still only on some cable systems. Many cable systems still refuse to carry it. And with that incomplete penetration, they're still posting huge numbers. What happens when they finally make it on to all cable systems?

My family was able to get the Fox News Channel right after it was established but then we were transferred to Germany for three years. We were force-fed the networks, CNN, CNN International, some MSNBC but no Fox News.

I turned to the internet and Free Republic for my news. So, coming home to the USA and getting Fox News on our cable outlet was in a very small way like being liberated.

They are therefore putting their own politics and their own tastes above their legal duties.

Well, the HAVE to. Otherwise they'd never ever get invited to another cocktail party again!

Is it impossible? I think Fox should start broadcasting Brit Hume's show as its broadcast network newscast.

(Assuming they're allowed to... which they might not be, because I understand that Teddy Kennedy is always fighting to put special restrictions on Rupert Murdoch's operations-- ostensibly because he's foreign, but actually because he's conservative.)

Saddam's "Jaguar" phone system, which is a fact I don't think we needed to know.)

You know, I was thinking about that at the time. I we had broken the code
of  what Saddam thinks is a secure system, and the attack on the restaurant
didn't kill him, the intel takes a big hit.  I thought Fox was being  stupid.

Teddy doesn't have that excuse any more; Murdoch became a US citizen.

In addition, FNC broadcasts live in all time zones. This means that Fox and Friends is on at the miserable hour of 4AM on the lefty coast. I'm betting that they have a very limited audience in that time zone.

So they must have an even bigger audience in the remaining time zones against the Early Show.

Yeah. Well, look, it's the frickin' politicians' and spooks' fault if they TOLD Fox about it, you know? THEY have the responsibility to protect secrets. If they tell a reporter about it... come on. It's not really the reporter's job to be more concerned about secrets than they are.

'Course, it could have been disinformation, but I just don't see the freaking point of that. Eh-- maybe to protect the real source, a human source that ratted out Saddam. So maybe they gave this bogus technical measure as the source in order to take the heat off the true human source.

Who, I'm guessing, was Tariq Aziz. For some reason, I just always expected this dope to be the one to betray Saddam.

One more thing to keep in mind is that it is live across the entire country, which means it airs at 5 a.m in the mountain west and 4 a.m. on the left coast, whereas the lamestream shows are tape delayed. I don't know whether the demographics take that into consideration. Finally, they have had competition for the past three weeks -- Centcom's briefings start at 7 a.m. EDT. All in all, a remarkable achievement. And the liberal printed press is starting to notice: Fox Offering More News Talk Than News (Sour Grapes Alert) ^.
