I agree. When I haven't had Fox on, MSNBC seems to be getting it. They have some good reporters and aren't all gloom and doom. They have done a creditable job.

In contrast, I had CBS radio news on for five minutes during Hannity's show today, and had to turn the radio off. You can absolutely predict these people. The suicide bombing led the news, followed by looting in Bagdad, which was followed by every gloom and doom story they could fit in, with quotes carefully selected from among liberal buffoons and idiots.

It is great to have our own press, and to be able to totally diss and ignore the Bolshevik press after all their years of being the only voice at the microphone.

I agree, that MSNBC seems to be "getting it," but it seems really FAKE (i.e., trying too hard instead of being honest). I applaud them "getting it" though.

This makes me feel like throwing something on a bonfire, talking about Vin Diesel and discussing E.D. Hill, before I take someones phone number.

I didn't have FOX when Gretta was on CNN, and I watched her quite a bit. When she moved to FOX , she started out the same, then the toe-sucker (I forget his name, you know who I'm talking about) chewed her out that first week saying something like "Your just as Liberal as you were on CNN". After that she definately changed

My opinion, she got her butt somewhat chewed, and was told who her audience is. I do like her show now also.

To each his own. Some like Cabernet Sauvignon some like Merlot. Van Sustern sounds like a Reisling.

Well I'm very much like you in that respect. Around 1993 I discovered the Prodigy online network and talk radio and hardly ever turned on a television set again - especially for news. I couldn't stand seeing Clinton's mug on the tube and like you, I detested the screaming "talking head" shows with the Eleanor Clifts and such. From that point on, I got all my news from talk radio, newspapers and Prodigy (later the Internet and Free Republic). You might be aware that Free Republic itself derived from the Prodigy News Bulletin Boards. Jim Robinson was a poster there who decided to start a site of his own. And here we are!

Once Bush was elected, I found it safe to watch the news on TV again. But I didn't watch much of it until after 9/11. Since about the middle of March, when it appeared that the war in Iraq was imminent, I've been tuned in everynight. I have now become a fan of FoxNews to the point where I'll probably watch at least a little of it each night from this point on, much to the disdain of the rest of my family who are accustomed to watching pretty much whatever they want!

BTW, Greta is set to interview the ambassador to Syria tonight. Should be interesting.

CNN is living off of the same model as its sister media outlet, Time. In airports, hotels, etc. it is the default channel. I just stayed at a hotel where, no matter what channel you were watching, when you pressed the power button it came to the default channel -- CNN.

If Time weren't in doctor's offices it wouldn't have enough subscriptions to continue publishing.

Are you kidding? I guess you haven't seen Keith Olbermann's new show. He is the worst. He agreed with Nancy Pelosi today that the statue of Saddam could have been brought down another way, he disagreed with the Baseball hall of fame cancelling the Bull Durham thing, and he has been making foul attacks on Geraldo Rivero that belong in a locker room, not my living room. If you call that news, I guess MSNBC is getting it.

Seriously, I like Greta's show a lot. I never saw her when she was on the other stations blabbering about Clinton. So she has a clean slate with me.

Exactly.

And believe it or not, I'm the same with Geraldo. Hard to believe, but I never watched Geraldo before (except I did catch part of his "Al Capone" debacle years ago) because I don't watch broadcast and never before FNC watched cable news (outside of HNN, where they mostly just gave the terse facts without too much spin).

So I saw him with fresh eyes, and all I could see was someone who was FANTASTIC with our troops, gave them the limelight, made THEM the show, etc.

I frankly forgave him when he "screwed up" with the map in the sand thing, and I'm glad to be counted a fan.

However, Ollie North gets my personal "Correspondent of the War."

Keith Olbermann is the worst of the worst. He is so totally in love with himself. I used to watch MSNBC before we got Fox News and he was on during the Clinton impeachment. He disgusted me with his snide statements. Laura Ingraham used to have a show on MSNBC and it was great but they cancelled her. Now, having two token conservatives on their channel is not enough for me to turn away from Fox who allows both sides of each issue to be discussed. I totally agree with you.

Do you remember when Fox's morning show featured Louis Aguerrie (sp?) and Alison Costarini wedged behind a tiny desk? E.D. subbed one morning for Allison, and I couldn't help but like her. She had an enthusiam and energy you usually don't see in early morning hosts. I'm glad Fox recognized it and KEPT her! Rock on, E.D., Brian and Steve! My coffee wouldn't be the same without you!

Well, my doctor obviously ain't one of their financiers. I picked up a copy of Time in his office the other day that had Roosevelt on the cover...
