The Rally for the Troops, Rally for America being organized by Citizens United and Young America's Foundation in Washington, D.C. from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 12 has been moved to a location away from the anti-war rally and march being held by C.A.N.S.W.E.R. the same day and time.
The support our troops rally, co-sponsored by the D.C. Chapter of Free Republic, will now be held on the Mall between 3rd and 4th Streets, NW. This area of the Mall is also between the Capitol and the Air & Space museums.
The nearest Metro stations are Federal Center, L'Enfant Plaza, Smithsonian, Judiciary Square and Archives/Navy Memorial. A little further away are Union Station, Federal Triangle, and Capitol South.
Those driving to D.C. from out of state might do well to utilize the parking lots at the outlying Metro stations just off the interstates as you approach the Beltway.
Street and pay lots/garages are available in town. Come early for the best spots as this is one of the busiest tourist times with the cherry blossoms in bloom.
Click here for a detailed map of downtown D.C.
Those attending are asked to bring American flags, large and small and signs bearing messages supporting our troops and the U.S.A. Citizens United also is asking for people to bring: "Donations for the troops. If you would like to bring something, they are asking for: baby wipes, sunscreen, lip balm, pre-paid international calling cards, and letters of support."
For more information about the rally and Citizens United, click the source link above.
Along with other co-sponsors of the rally, the D.C. Chapter will have a booth or table there. Stop by and say hello.
Headlining the rally will be G. Gordon Liddy and country music star Aaron Tippin. From the announcement, "There will also be a special video presentation for the troops featuring country music legends Toby Keith, Travis Tritt, the Charlie Daniels Band and Ben Stein of Comedy Central."
Please make the extra effort to come out for this one. The tide has shifted against the so-called "anti-war" movement, but they did have an effect on troop morale. It's important that those who support the troops and their mission make a loud public statement in our nation's capital. Our troops have given their all for us, the least we can do is give up an afternoon to stand up for them.

Here's a tidbit from Scotia:
Posted on 04/12/2003 12:49 PM CDT by Scothia
Actor Ron Silver, addressing the Pro-USA and pro-troops rally in Washington DC today and responding to his introduction as a "prominent linberal" said "I think you've seen the end of my days as prominent liberal."
"Peace at what risk? Peace on whose terms? Peace for how long?" he went on. "There are worse things than war. People who think nothing is worth a war is worse."
The enthusiastic crowd cheered as Silver evoked Elie Wiesel and the lessons learned through the horrors of Nazi Germany, enunciating the reasons for America's humanitarian intervention in Iraq.
Following Silver, Linda Chavez remarked that she herself was a former liberal, and invited Silver to join the conservative ranks. "We ought to have a support group for ex-liberals," she said, laughing.

I have seen the light!

My favorite Ron Silver movie, GARBO TALKS.
I hate I missed his comments today, but I've seen him debate his position several times on television. Articulate, thoughtful, and RIGHT!!

Did anyone go? I was there and didn't see any FR signs. We were in the middle though and couldn't see up front. Funniest thing said was
"Everyone raise your hand if you're an American". Everyone did and cheered.
"Now raise both your hands if you're from France". Big Hehehe from the crowd.
Laura Ing-gra-ham was great and unexpected.
