I did click but it's still hard to tell. Kind of leaves one speechless, doesn't it?

It is, and it is. He must have been dead for some time in the hot sun by the time they took the second photo. The comparison with how the poor man looked in life is horrible.
I used to do arson death investigations, so I'm not easily horrified. Don't look if you don't have a pretty strong stomach. I hope his relatives don't ever see that.

NOW. The world will see! We are the 'Good guys'. I think the era of the world seeing us as the good guys has passed. Doesn't matter what we do, they hate us. And not just the Arabs. Did you see Fox talking about the poll of the Russian people a couple days ago? 3% wanted us to win. 58% openly said they wanted Saddam to win. I don't think ANYONE opposing us in this mess denies that he's evil incarnate, yet they still support him.
I think it all ties back to our support of Israel. Despite the fact that Israel does nothing but defend itself within its own land, anti-semitism is again exploding in the world. And they hate us right along with 'em. That's fine. I'd sure rather be on God's side. The end of this story is already written.

You wish!
Al-Jazeera will probably report that we killed them all and the Iraqis merely dragged them inside.
Charles Rangel will go on Hannity & Colmes and claim they're collateral damage from a 'women & children' assault gone bad.
Peter Arnett will claim it's proof that the Iraqis are winning.
Tom Daschle will claim it's the result of Bush's 'failed diplomacy'.
Bill Clinton will claim it wouldn't have happened if Bush had paid more attention to his advice to focus his attention on Osama bin Laden (like he did).
Kofi Annan will whine that he was afraid something like this would happen if the UN was bypassed.
Jacques Chirac will claim that these people were innocent Iraqis trying to surrender like the French taught them.

"In another building, there was a picture of Saddam Hussein, what were believed to be prayer stones and metal hooks on racks hanging from the ceiling."
Yes, I can imagine Muslims praying while they torture their enemies.

This may merely represent an attempt by the Iraqis to collect their own war dead from GW1. With a shooting gallery, a trench (presumably for blood) and the ubiquitous "meat hooks" hanging from the ceiling? I doubt it. As far as the documentation, many experts, including Laurie Mylroie, have written for years about the regime's macabre and compulsive fascination with documentation of everything -- including their own atrocities. I think the Spec Ops raid the other night on one of Saddam's palaces was done explicitly to retrieve such documents before the palace was completely destroyed by the coalition.

It could be quite important to identify them and return the remains to the families for proper burial, while shoving the facts of the atrocities into the faces of Europe and the "Arab street" at every possible juncture.

Pol POt all over again as the world ignored it. Thank God, we stopped it while the world continued denial or rationalize it away.
That is a face. It is a before and after shot of the same person. LIke Nazi's they seem to like keeping meticulous records of their deeds. It should make war crimes easier to happen.

British Find Remains of 200 People Near Basra
AS SAYLIYA CAMP, Qatar (Reuters) - British forces said on Saturday they had found the remains of as many as 200 people in a barracks near Iraq (news - web sites)'s second city Basra and they were sending in forensic experts to investigate.
Pool television pictures showed dozens of simple wooden coffins and plastic bags full of bones which a military spokesman on the scene said might be from a previous war as they were quite old.
"They discovered some bodies in a barracks between Basra and Az Zubair," a British military spokeswoman at war headquarters in Qatar told Reuters. Another spokesman said the remains of around 200 people had been found in a warehouse.
He said the Third Regiment of the Royal Artillery had made a preliminary search of a compound on the road between Basra and Zubair before spending the night there.
The following morning they made a more detailed search and on opening the doors of one warehouse they came across bags full of bones which the spokesman described as "desiccated."
"They are going to treat it as a war grave. They have sealed the area off and are waiting for forensic teams to go in and see what happened," he said.
It was not immediately clear who the dead might be or how long they had been there but the spokesman noted that it was unusual for bodies to remain unburied given the Muslim tradition of burying bodies within 24 hours of death.
"The discovery was made at the 51st Division HQ of the Iraqi regular army and a special team has been asked to investigate this further," the British Ministry of Defense said.

Thanks for the link - I watched the video at the link and it looks like there are at least 3 to 4 bags of bones in each coffin. There is at least 200 coffins. It makes me wonder if each town may have something like this.

Click on the link in post #89 - It has a video and on the other side of this building not shown in the picture above. The coffins are stacked up 5 high and 2 deep. It shows at least 3 bags in each coffin. If there is 200 coffins, there could be as many as 600 remains of people in there, possibly more.

The Nazis did the same thing. They seemed to be fixated on recording every detail, in triplicate, with copies forwarded to every Ministry with a peripheral interest in whatever atrocity they were pursuing at the moment. I think one of the reasons Stalin's atrocities don't sink in like Hitler's is that his minions didn't keep this sort of detailed record.
The Germans' meticulous documentation was valuable evidence at the Nürnberg trials.
Sure hope the same thing happens here.

This may merely represent an attempt by the Iraqis to collect their own war dead from GW1.With most of them dead by gunshot wound to the head? Would that war were so neat and clean... And as someone else mentioned regarding the "shooting gallery," somehow I doubt the war dead aspect.

Yes I suppose you are right. I just had a Canadian woman (and she is not even a liberal, but I guess being from canada is bad enough)on my homeschool debate group tell me that it was not our place to be there to liberate the Iraqis because they did not ask. DUH!! I would not ask either if it meant I would lose a tongue or even worse a child! Then she had the nerve to tell me that the only reason the people might dance and cheer would be out of fear of our soldiers. Something else she implied was one of the reasons that Cananda refused to help us was because of the death of the Canadians in Afghanistan awhile back. Looks like they might still be holding a grudge because no one hanged for that one.
Well if the Libs won't eat crow then they can eat ****!
