No Strings Attached

For Iraq's suffering people, aid is aid -- Christian or otherwise

By Franklin Graham

Dr. David Livingstone, a 19th century Scottish medical missionary, is credited with taking modern medicine to Africa. During his estimated 29,000 miles of trekking throughout the continent, he saw the horrors of the slave trade and took action to abolish it.

In India, Mother Teresa quietly lived out the mantra of St. Francis of Assisi, who said: "Preach the Gospel at all times and, when necessary, use words."

And once we have Iraq under control, hopefully Missionaries like Rev Graham will be able to show these moslems the error of their ways in following a false prophet like mohammed and show them the true light of Christ.

That is precisely the thing he should not do.

This is not a crusade. It's the freeing of a people under dictatorship. Take care of their bodily needs. Let them breathe freedom and enjoy the respite of not having to fear.

"By their fruits you will know them.." Feed their bodies, and their minds will follow.

The people of Iraq won't need to be forced to see whata gutter religion theirs is, they will find it for themselves.

Little known fact: Muslims also read NEW testament, revere Jesus And His Mother. Accept him as a Prophet, not as God.

It was a Syrian Christian Monk who first recognized Muhammed as a Prophet. He is reputed to have had children with an Egyptian Christian woman while in exile there. He had very close ties with the Jewish communities of Mecca and Medina.

Muhammed was a syncretist, combining Jewish elements with Christian, to create a new religion. Of course, he was also a bloodthirsty brigand, thorough-going terrorist, child molester, and probably a complete nut-job.

All of these threads exist in Islam today.

"Little known fact: Muslims also read NEW testament,"

How much do they read the New Testament???

Their scripture says that the prior scriptures are the word of God, but then it goes on to refute those scriptures, claiming the old scriptures are wrong and the Koran is the most accurate. On top of that it claims to have no contradictions.

My guess is they don't read them very much, if at all.

They argue in circles on this. If the Koran disagrees with the Bible, they say that the Bible has become corrupted at that point. When asked how they know that, they say they know because it's different from the Koran.

They went off track with their version of Abraham about to sacrifice his son. they claim it was Ishmael. Christians and jews say it is Isaac. There are many more differences.

That's not true of the Jewish people...

As Christian one is called to be salt and light. How can a Christian see the dying souls of his brethren and not respond by giving the truth of the life saving gospel. Being a Christian is a great responsibility more than just merely showing up for church on Sundays. Do the Iraqi people not deserve the same in hearing the life changing gospel that inspired our founding fathers and shaped our nation into a prosperous land with civil laws giving each man equality, freedom, and liberty.

The one demand we should have in the formation of the new government is the ironclad implementation of every point in our Bill of Rights.

True freedom of worship would, over time, guarantee the eventual ascendancy of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, without coercion.

Same rule for Afghanistan.

Hopefully that will follow that model. I don't see a need for coercion. If one as chance to share the gospel with an unbeliever they should do it. The unbeliever can always listen and say no thanks, say they don't want to hear it, or thanks for sharing.

Yes, but of course that liberty has not been allowed in Islamic lands.
