As some of you know, I have been encouraging FReepers to send messages of thanks to those nations that have supported our war efforts in Iraq. Go to www.embassy.org to send a message. Here is what was sent to the Polish embassy, and what was returned.
Subject: Thank you

Thank you for sending troops and supporting America. Please tell me products that you sell in the United States. I will look for them because I am anxious to return favors to our friends. I hope I can visit someday.
(signed, dfu)
Dear Sir or Madam,
We were very pleased to receive your word of recognition on the Polish support for the United States of America.
Poland and the United States share a bundle of common values and principles including democracy, freedom and liberty for all. Over the centuries both countries supported each other in their struggles Kazimierz Pu³aski and Tadeusz Kociuszko under the command of George Washington fought for the American liberation, and the Americans supported the Solidarity movement in the early 1980s.
I would like to inform you, that your e-mail has been sent to President of The Republic of Poland Aleksander Kwasniewski.
I would also like to recommend you to visit the Embassys website www.polandembassy.org and the website of the Foreign Ministry of Poland www.msz.gov.pl. Also worth exploring is www.polandtour.org where you can find information on travel to Poland.

Thanks for your list, I've copied it for future reference. I must tell you, Hungry has THE BEST deserts in the world, at least judging by the ones I've eaten here in the US. My future vacation plans haven't changed, I still just want to go to London!

No!
Giving him five bucks will just enable him to self-destruct.
Al will kill himself with fatty barbecue and TJ Swann.

Nope, Bay Ridge. The two delis are OUTSTANDING as is the Restaurant Polonica (Third Avenue and 72nd Street in Bay Ridge). The largest concentration of Poles in in Greenpoint, which is north of Williamsburgh. Williamsburgh, BTW, is now YUPPIE HELL!

Best places for Polish Shopping in the USA according to Clemenza are:
New York: Manhattan Avenue around Nassau Street in the Greenpoint Section of Brooklyn. Lots of Polish delis, beauty shops, bakeries and Stylowa, arguably the best Polish Restaurant in the city.
Chicago: Milwaukee Avenue, from Belmont NW to Lawrence (and nearby at the intersection of Belmont and Central) the heart of the largest Polish community in America with Polish stores of every kind (little English spoken). Check out the "Polish Barnes & Noble," Polonica on Milwaukee near Lawrence for the largest selection of Polish literature in the world.
If you are on the south west side of Chicago, check out the large community of "mountain Poles" around Archer and Pulaski, not far from Midway Airport. Great bakeries and sausage shops.

Thank you for posting this thread. Poland is a beautiful and historic country. I walked through a church that has been standing for 900 years. There is a clear appreciation for the contribution each generation has given to strengthen and ensure Poland's continued stability. The Citizens of Poland love their country today, as the Citizens of the united States of America fiercely loved America in 1941.

You are striving to give stupidity a newer meaning, and you are succeeding.
Your pen speaks volumes of your ignorant bigoted hate for a people you do not know, and a one thousand year national history you are to blind or to dumb to study.
Your hate blinds you to the fact it is Poland and defenders of Western civilization that are standing to defend you and yours from experiencing a repeat of the 'final solution'. But you can't bear to think of Poland as your defender. Get over it. Turn the page. It's 2003.
Your despicable and hate-filled post is actually undeserving of this civilized rebuttal, because your world is inexhaustibly chained to a manipulated cottage industry that relies on propagating hate to sustain profitability.

Asher, you are pointing to a great deal of prejudice that existed and exists in Poland. That is true, but this is also not the whole truth.
With all the prejudice we know about, it was Poland at the turnm of the XX century that was the world center of Jewish learning, much like Spain a thousand years earlier. If prejudice was all of the story, how could that have happened?
Remember also that about 5,000 Polish Catholics have been killed during WWII by the Nazis for hiding and protecting their Jewish fellow citizens. This is no small number. The courage could no be greater. And the price they paid could not be higher.
I do not deny the existence of prejudice, but to deny the existence of pure Polish hearts makes your statement inaccurate and unfair. You probably would not like if someone put all of the Jews in the same category, so why do it to anyone else. As, Hillel said, "Do unto others..."

Jescze Polska nie zginela: Poland hasn't perished yet. These great words of the Polish anthem are both poignant and triumphant. Unlike the French, the Poles never give up. They may be overwhelmed, as they were by the Germans and Russians, but they simply never give up.

"TELL US ALL WHAT PRODUCTS ( besides gigantic ships) YOU MAKE THAT WE CAN BUY HERE TO THANK YOU ALL. "
Firstly, alcohol:
:)
Polish Vodka: Chopin Vodka, Belweder, Sobieski, Premium, Absolwent, Luksusowa, Wyborowa, Zubrowka, Zoladkowa, Polonez and many others.
Vodka was invented in Poland about 800 years ago. Polish Vodka is the best. Chopin and Belweder are very expensive - about 20$ a bottle in USA I think. It is produced in Poland, but co-owner of this plant(?) is a man from USA.
Polish beer: Zywiec, Tyskie, Lech, Okocim, Bosman, Tatra, Piast, Warka...
Also food, especially meat (ham, sausage). Poland is the biggest producer of furniture in Europe. We sell a lot to Germany, France, Ukraine or Russia, however I don't know if it's profitable to sell it in USA (transport costs).
We have also many IT corporations like: ComArch, Prokom, ComputerLand or Yang Digital... They produce software mainly for business and institutions.
