Is it just me, or are there others who think that our incredible push/arrival to Baghdad seems so strange with regard to the low-to-no resistance we've been getting. And now at the Airport and no resistance? It all seems strange. Where in the world are the 10's of thousands-strong RG and ERG units we've heard so much about. This is all strange indeed.

But then there was this on Fox just moments ago:

A woman who escaped 20 years of house arrest in Iraq and had family murdered said her sister (in London ) had contact with "Auntie" in Baghdad. Auntie said, "Don't worry about me, Fedayeen are in all the houses in Baghdad protecting us."

Linda Vester said something to the effect of , "Oh, my Lord."

What's "strange" is that anyone took any of those doom-and-gloom pundits seriously in the first place.

Well, I got flamed for suggesting two days ago that the RG MIGHT have been dispersed originally to Basra and al-Nashirya and other "outlying" areas for a propaganda victory and to hope that U.S./Euro anti-war movements would force an end to the war.

I know it lacks MILITARY logic, but Saddam was never playing a military game, but a POLITICAL/PROPAGANDA GAME.

I feel the same way. Seems like a set-up for an ambush to me.

I'm sure they're prepared for this but it's still unnerving to say the least.

For some time now I've thought about the possibility that the guards take off their uniforms and blend into the streets of Bagdad, let us "win" and take over the country and then fight guerilla style.

"And now at the Airport and no resistance? It all seems strange..."

I think so too...it just seems a little too "easy"?! It's a bit eerie to imagine, and I'm certain they're being very wary about the whole situation...

Meantime, let's just hope it's not "too good to be true"!

....And now at the Airport and no resistance.....

One effective weapon has never been mentioned and that is Bribes. Baksheese , promises.

When you review the chain of events from the Seal capture of the oil terminal to the un blown oil wells, to the WMD factory taken intact with a guided tour by a general, to all the bridges intact, to the dam unblown to now another intact air port...... there can be but one conclusion.

That is, the entire army outside of Baghdad was purchased ante bellum and all these wonderful objectives were handed ove intact as a result of careful subtrafuge and massive bribes.

The historical precedent is Hitler asking the question....."Is Paris Burning?"

Its not too strange if you realize that you are only being informed by the media of about %10-%20 of what is actually going on throughout the course of this war. The media, for what its worth, cannot be (and shouldnt be) everywhere to report everything thats going on. Take your worry-wart cap off...you (and I) will have most of our battlefield questions of the How-To's and Why's of this war answered soon enough.

This very strange. Ted Koppel, traveling with the 3rd ID as they crossed the Euphredes, said the resistance was virtually nil. I wonder if this is good news or bad.

They have been playing catch with 1000lb smart bombs last couple of weeks and are too tired to play. In fact most of them are dead tired.

A great many of them are dead or wounded. Of the survivors, many are surrendering to U.S. forces. As I was getting ready for work this morning (Pacific time), I video and a report from a field reporter who showed BUSLOADS full of Iraqi soldiers surrendering. I mean large commercial buses.

Like all Arab/Islamist armies when confronted with a real army, they've soiled their pants and headed for the hills.

I think our military are very prepared for ambushes and bio/chem but I still have a nagging feeling that if it seems too good to be true then it usually isn't. Something just doesn't seem right. With the mass evacuations I wonder about nukes. Flame away guys. I will be very happy to be wrong. :')
