Is it just me, or are there others who think that our incredible push/arrival to Baghdad seems so strange with regard to the low-to-no resistance we've been getting. And now at the Airport and no resistance? It all seems strange. Where in the world are the 10's of thousands-strong RG and ERG units we've heard so much about. This is all strange indeed.
An absolute bump!

Let's not get cocky, gang.
While I'm happy we've taken it, and we're seeing no resistance, I'm very fearful that we might be being led into a trap.
Don't underestimate the barbarians in filthy nightshirts. The Islamokazis are treacherous. The Crusaders learned this in the 12th century, let's not have to learn it again.
I say until Baghdad is completely under our control, we don't let up.
Spidey-sense is tingling, here...some of this seems to be going too easy. I hope they're not readying some chemical or nuke attack once our guys are in range. It wouldn't surprise me if So-damn Insane actually had a nuke, and would set it off in Baghdad to go out in a blaze of glory - killing himself, his people, and as many of our guys as possible.
I pray I'm wrong, and that it is all going this easy...but let's wait and see first...

There is something to be said about a people and its army when a 19 year old female supply clerk from a little town in West Virginia, wounded, her immediate comrades killed, fights on until out of ammunition, then is subjected to eight days of starvation and torture and when rescued medics are impressed with her resiliance and courage.
Word up to the world. Don't F with us. Don't tug on Superman's cape!

For some time now I've thought about the possibility that the guards take off their uniforms and blend into the streets of Bagdad, let us "win" and take over the country and then fight guerilla style.
To: Duckdog
I think it is funny that saddam keeps telling his people that "victory is at hand" The only people it's fooling are the arabs coming in from other countries to join the fight.

Where are the "Effete" Republican Guards They got their wads of cash as incentive to fight...then walked home.

"Clearly the Bush administration lied about the threat that Iraq posed, because the Iraqi's were no threat to our military."It is truly breathtaking to watch the media go from criticizing Bush for not sending enough troops to criticizing Bush for sending too many troops - all in the space of a few days. I guess they figure that most viewers don't have a long enough attention span to spot the blatant contradiction. Of course, they also can't figure out why they're losing so many viewers...

According to ABC News hundreds of residents of Baghdad are spilling out of the city trying to flood our forces with a humanitarian nightmare in south central Iraq to delay our advance north...

Where is the Republican Guard?
Out listening to music. The last selection they hear is the B-52's.

"And now at the Airport and no resistance? It all seems strange..."I think so too...it just seems a little too "easy"?! It's a bit eerie to imagine, and I'm certain they're being very wary about the whole situation...
Meantime, let's just hope it's not "too good to be true"!

Well, we have been in Baghdad for a week. Our special ops apparently pretty much go where they want. If they think we are going to drive in and park an armored division in some park, they are crazy. It will be piece by piece, cautious.

Now that this airport has been taken (I think there are a couple more) I am hoping they go next door to that presidential compound and duct tape that Information Minister's mouth completely shut.

One of my biggest concerns since the war has begun was that there was a trap waiting on us in Bagdad.
Me too. I pray I am wrong, and I know our leaders have considered this possibility, but it is war... and things can go wrong in war.
Again, I pray I'm wrong, but I won't feel better until we spend a week or two there with Baghdad 100% under our control.
