Freedoms Fighters empowered by the Economic Engine and Technological Advancements of Captitalism, will always beat the Enscripted Military Fighters of Socialistic Governments. The best defense these socialistic societies have is to employ loyalists within the medias of the world to lie about the engagements. This tactic worked in Vietnam, but has failed miserably in Iraq. Their second best defense is to utilize the media and the UN to avoid the conflict in the first place.

My guess, Saddam was in control of them. Saddam is dead. The remaining Iraqi officers may not be as sadistic as Saddam and may not want to kill so many civilians. Our ground advance has been so quick that it may have overwhelmed the command and control of the WMD. After all, you cannot just release them at will. You need to gear up in suits and try to protect the nearby population. Taking out Saddam at the start was key. Brilliant strategy, Brilliant Execution.

The pick up truck with a machine gun mount in the back was one of the few type of weapons we Westerners couldn't talk the Arabs out of using, because they're a waste. The only advantage they have is high mobility against a lightly armed or unarmed target. We think they like to use them for crowd control.

The Iraqi regime appears to be collapsing.

That's how I read this, D1... it will be so fast your head will spin--

It's kindof a tough read. This is the outskirts. I am amazed that the special ops people can do this, but it's not in the town proper yet. This is hectic. I sure hope you are right.

Me too- nothing is certain in war until the final outcome... but I have read hints on other posts ( didn't save the links, but they are scattered among the last entries to Dubob 11 ) that collapse is immanent and when it comes it will be like a house of cards falling. Stay tuned!

Outstanding, if true. Maybe Spec-Ops can command and control the thugs in Karbala to stop shooting down our planes?

The "town proper" is 2,097 square miles -- five times the size of the City of Los Angeles, twice the size of the State of Rhode Island. About half of the area ranges from rural to villages of mud huts.

Even if all his troops were alive, well-armed and functioning, Saddam could not defend all of Baghdad. That's why my latest UPI column (first link) predicts that about half of Baghdad will fall quickly and cleanly, becoming "Free Baghdad."

Congressman Billybob

Latest column, now up on UPI, and FR, "The Berlin Solution to the Baghdad Problem."

Latest book(let), "to Restore Trust in America."

I'm wondering if we've trained any Iraqi Americans for some of these Special Ops missions...

Excellently put.

And that has failed, too!

It will remind people of the glorious victories of the Forces of Freedom whenever it's uttered. I think it will like its new role!

Now, where are the WMDs?

For me the beauty of the battle plan that was trashed by the ex-general consultant types who say we needed a gazillion troops on the ground and that we didn't have enough support along supply routes is that we avoided creating a tempting target. Our men are spread out across miles of road and are hardly the kind of target that would be largely effective against our troops.

Its my opinion that the nature of our advance was designed ot minimize deaths from biological and chemical weapons and this meant moving fast and light. It is also so logical that I wonder why the hired ex-general consultants don't mention in and rather use this to bash Rummy.

...then... scream Allah Akbar! as you go head on against a tank from your Toyota pickup truck.

LOL!    And *what is* up with Toyotas?   The cave-in to Jesse and Push was bad enough; now it seems that every "bad guy" from Afghanistan to Iraq drives one!

Toyota Trucks:  Like a [black] Rock.   LOL.
