[snip]They said they often heard the screams of other prisoners being tortured and saw some with their eyes and faces bloodied and swollen.
''There were beatings and torture going on outside our cells, in the corridor, literally,'' McAllester said. Other inmates hobbled around, apparently because the soles of their feet had been burned or otherwise injured.

PING...... FYI >>>> I thought you might read this ....(not hearsay).......from a journalist kept in a prison camp.
Be sure you note these words "They said they often heard the screams of other prisoners being tortured and saw some with their eyes and faces bloodied and swollen.
''There were beatings and torture going on outside our cells, in the corridor, literally,'' McAllester said. Other inmates hobbled around, apparently because the soles of their feet had been burned or otherwise injured. "

I don't mention its political leaning to imply that Ms Bingham somehow deserved her fate (this family has already known more than its share of tragedy), but rather to argue that Ms Bingham probably went over there against the war.Judging from the bio of her someone posted elsewhere, it appears she probably went just for kicks. Welcome to the Real World, dear.

The torture is a much bigger story than the release of the journalists. Not to a journalist. If there is one point in the entire universe on which the average person can objectively say reporters are absolutely, unquestionably out of their skulls barking mad, it's on the issue of how important the rest of the world thinks journalists are. To the reporters, they're absolutely as well-known and important to the functioning of human society as the highest level government officials. To the people forced to consume their stuff (i.e. us), of course, we're like, "Who? What paper? They were missing?"
If it wasn't for the recovery of Pfc Lynch and the major battlefield gains we've been making over the last 24 hours, we'd be in the middle of a wall-to-wall Bingham & Newsday Fest right now across the board. And I bet at least one of those three people walks away with a Pulitzer next April for something they haven't written or photographed yet, and that isn't really Pulitzer material. Probably one of the Newsday guys, since it's a lot harder to fake the relevance of a photo.

My Mom and Dad always characterized the Binghams as major lefties.

"What she does with that opportunity will be her measure as a human being."
Sounds harsh, but I think I agree.

...but rather to argue that Ms Bingham probably went over there against the war. I suspect that her view has changed. Yep, she's a peacenik. I wonder if they EVER change.

And I hope they are not going to allow this to influence in any way their objectivity and neutrality. We don't need any more flag waving!

nostalgiaI remember a time when a town like Chicago had FOUR major dailies, two morning and two evening.

They haven't mentioned the Iraqi's predilection for gang rape yet.
Expect that factoid to be briefly mentioned some time.
Expect NOW and the rest of the feminist groups to sit on their hands and be quiet about it.

While I'm glad the reporters were found... I did feel a little funny Tom Brokaw specifically mentioned Bingham was from a wealthy Louisville family (as opposed the the "average joes" also found). For all the talk of equality, perhaps Democrats are really elists?
To: Prince Hal
Want to bet these 2 journalists change their political status to "republican" as a result of their experiences?
Can we get records to confirm this by next year's election?

At the end of the day I am still shaking my head, sometimes in puzzlement but often in fury.I know exactly how you feel. I can't even watch the local news anymore. To much darn bias. For local news, I read the online edition of the paper and listen to AM talk radio. It's a shame that we don't have a FOX 'local news' option.

Didn't you know? If the US government was swept away like magic tomorrow, all war, pollution, corruption, tyranny, poverty, hunger, gender inequity, discrimination against minorities, gays, lesbians, the transgendered, bisexuals and religious sects would disappear immediately. We'd all have harmony, peace, brotherhood, tolerance and understanding, together with an equitable distribution of resources.

Slowly the tide is turning. We were the silent majority for far too long.
The leftist media destroyed Richard Nixon, Dan Quayle, and are trying to do the same to President Bush. That they might destroy america too is meaningless to these haters.

But you know I'm getting old & I have these memory losses.... In the beautiful new world that could exist (were it not for the perfidy of those eeeeeevil United States), we could celbrate your memory losses, especially those brought on by age. Besides, lack of knowledge is no less valid a basis to establish a worldview than is the use of knowledge, skill and experience.
Drink deep from the cup of wisdom from all, my sister......
