Iraq denies destruction of Republican Guard division
ABC Online - Australia ^ | 4-2-03

Posted on 04/02/2003 7:07:03 AM PST by Oldeconomybuyer

An Iraqi military spokesman has denied the destruction of the Baghdad division of the elite Republican Guard, as claimed by US Central Command.

"These allegations have no foundation and are part of the hostile campaign against Iraq," the spokesman said.

"To the contrary, the Baghdad division maintains its cohesion and has a morale of steel.

"It has not suffered any losses and is ready to confront the enemy and destroy it," he said.

Brigadier General Vincent Brooks earlier told a press briefing in Qatar that the First Marine Expeditionary Force had attacked the Baghdad Division near Al-Kut, about 150 kilometres south-east of the Iraqi capital.

"The Baghdad Division has been destroyed," Brigadier Brooks said.

"The Baghdad Division has been destroyed," Brigadier Brooks said.

"... and it will hold a press conference today to prove it! Unless of course, it get's canceled and some lackey just reads a prepared text"

To the contrary, the Baghdad division maintains its cohesion and has a morale of steel.

And I suppose Saddam has maintained his cohesion as well.

Well, they deny we've taken citis, they deny we've taken airfields, they deny we've taken prisoners, so it makes sense they deny one of their divisions seems to have gone missing.

Soon, they'll be denying we're rolling tanks up their driveway.

I suspect his molecules are all off spinning to their own drums again, his essential form being emancipated from this world (ie he's dead Jim).

He's being held together with duct tape and crazy glue 'til the Republican Guard can give him a fittin' burial.

My favorite line yesterday in regards to whether Sadaam Hussein was alive or not was, "Is this the Iraqi version of 'Weekend at Bernies'?" It was on CNBC and I laughed my @$$ off.

I really think what's left of the regime thinks their last best hope is a protracted seige of Baghdad.

I can't believe Yogi can spew blatant falsehoods with nary a twich of the eyebrow. After the war, Hollywood should get a crack at this guy. He'd play the perfect villain and his acting skills are now a matter of record.

Any day now you'll see a video showing the Iraqi military spokesman speaking in the microphone of how the "Valiant Republican Guard units are obliterating the evil invaders!" as a US Marine steps in to the picture to take his microphone away from his hands.

ROFLMAO

That is a great picture in my head! He steps into view, looks at the camera, takes the microphone from the speaker, gives a (how does it go?) oo-rah and walks off with the POW, while the camera continues to roll.

I regret to inform you that this guy's range of future options run from "splatttt" to "War Criminal."

I've no doubt the "Splat" option is the more likely of the two scenarios. =) Normally, I hate to see anyone die, but in his case, I'll make an exception.

Of course, after he's personally introduced to one of the "cluster bombs" we managed to pry away from our "systematic and deliberate campaign to wipe out Iraqi civilians" he will likely deny in a pre-recorded tape that he has, in fact, met his maker.
