David Bloom is live on MSNBC now, with the news that captured soldiers have revealed to his battalion that Russians and French companies have been supplying NightVision goggles and that former Russian military officers are advising the Iraqis on how to fight American forces.

DOH !!! And MSNBC actually brought this story to the air. Wow! That's almost more surprising than the Russian/French connection. I hope this sh*t really comes before the public eye on this one. Let the world know the truth!

Amid the fighting, residents waved white flags. Several eagerly pointed out enemy positions to the U.S. troops, who destroyed some caches of weapons and confiscated others. The haul included about 80 mortars, 90 rocket grenade launchers, scores of vehicles and six sophisticated Russian-made night-vision sighting scopes for mortars.

``They had Russian stuff, they had French stuff, they had Belgian stuff, and guess who's been the most vocal against this war?'' said an angry Lt. David Chen, executive officer of Cyclone Company of the 4th Battalion, 64th Armored Regiment.

A similar cache was taken from a police station, where soldiers also found maps showing U.S. troop positions. One of the prisoners was from the Nebuchadnezzar Division of the Republican Guard, based north of Baghdad, and his presence led to speculation that Saddam was shifting foot soldiers south to stall the U.S. advance.

The Russians should have told the Iraqis about the most important tactical possession when fighting the Americans. They have most likely shown them by example what that is by now. It's a clear line of egress.

U.S. claims that Russian firms have supplied Iraq with electronic jamming equipment, night vision goggles and anti-tank missiles that Washington says could put the lives of their soldiers at risk. Russia denies such deliveries were made.

In a reference to the row over alleged weapons sales, Ivanov bemoaned signs that Washington was "trying to drag Russia into an information war" on Iraq.

"We hope our U.S. partners are responsible about what they are doing and that they don't take steps that could hurt our relations," he said.

Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov denied Russia had supplied Iraq with any military equipment in breach of UN sanctions.

In the telephone call, “The two discussed US concerns involving prohibited hardware that has been transferred from Russian companies to Iraq,” White House spokesman Ari Fleischer said.

Asked if Washington had evidence the items were being used by Iraq, he said: “They were not provided for the purpose of sitting on shelves.”

US officials believe the alleged sales have been carried out by private Russian firms and they want greater oversight by Russian authorities to stop them. Analysts and officials in Moscow said Iraq could have acquired the equipment via a third country, like Syria or Ukraine.
