U.S. claims that Russian firms have supplied Iraq with electronic jamming equipment, night vision goggles and anti-tank missiles that Washington says could put the lives of their soldiers at risk. Russia denies such deliveries were made.

In a reference to the row over alleged weapons sales, Ivanov bemoaned signs that Washington was "trying to drag Russia into an information war" on Iraq.

"We hope our U.S. partners are responsible about what they are doing and that they don't take steps that could hurt our relations," he said.

I have to assume that, aside from their financial ties, the former socialists and current socialists who run Russia (and dominate France) are highly sympathetic to the socialist government of Iraq, and that the hope was to weaken America by boosting the prospects of Iraq. It seems to me, we should not lose sight of the fact that socialism is the principal motivating factor behind the worldwide protest movement, the Democratic Party, and the four countries that acted as the principal opponents to our Iraq policy: Russia, France, Germany and Red China,

My bet is Chinese "advice" is buried in there also.....

Remember that during the Clinton years we basically opened up our storehouse of military / technological knowledge to the Russians and the Chinese as we openly invited Chinese/Russian military - diplomatic - scientific people on our bases, into our high tech and top secret centers, and gave them huge amounts of information which no doubt is coming in handy for the Iraqi's at this moment.

This "open door" policy to the friends of our enemies should be shut down immediately.

Its possible Russian firms sold material without government permission. Look how much American material has ended up in the hands of the ChiComs.
