"Our best protection is free and open debate."
Al Gore is dumb as a post.
What in the blazes does he think all true Americans have been doing? The dixie licks have been debated openly as well as the trash out of hollyweird (not to mention the effing french).
We dont have to debate endlessly like the UN to make a decision. Celebrities, politicos and even foreigners are free to voice their opinions - and we are free to ACT on ours.
As a free people, a thinking people, we debated and then decided what was really american.
And Alwhore: IT AINT YOU!

And this is supposed to help? I can't believe the DC would welcome this kind of support. If they do, then it really is over for them...

"Our democracy has taken a hit."
You darn right it has, algore. The WTC and the Pentagon, you dunderhead.

Gore is completely on the wrong tact (as usual), when he claims there has not been a fair and open debate. If anything conservatives have brought a fair and open debate, while liberals have just simply been dishonest about the war for the purpose of destroying President Bush. Liberals always think there rights are being violated when people don't agree with them. The Dixie Chicks, particularly the pudgy one, did a cowardly and foolish thing by vocally taking a stance in a foreign country, that they had to have known was not a stance they shared with their conservative country fans.

It just gets better for the Dixie Chicks..first the stupid comment..then the anger..then Michael Moore mentions them as he is being booed off the Oscar stage..now Gore supports them..what next..kind words from Saddam (or what's left of him)..In time their cds will be selling 12 for a dollar..if that..

Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't it Gore who was complaining about Rush and Hannity and O'Reilly on the radio? I know Clinton did, but I thought Gore also felt that the "conservative" talk show hosts were pushing hate or violence or something like that.
To: RockSolid
Right...and Al Gore invented the Dixie Chicks, didn't he?

Gore told the audience, "They were made to feel un-American and risked economic retaliation because of what was said. Our democracy has taken a hit,"Tell that to the orange growers that advertised on Rush's show.

I bet he wouldn't be saying that if these Dixie Chickens announced to England how much they hate Clinton and his cowardly ways!
No one said they were not free to say and speak their mind, just like I am free to tell them to p_ss off!

Hmmmm, wasn't this the same Al Gore who was Vice President in an administration where people, publications and foundations who spoke critically of that administration found themselves being audited by the IRS. Was this not the same administration who had squads of "helpers" go through the crowd and squelch those who would voice disagreement. Did they not have a woman questioned for hours and her tax returns audited because she voiced her opionion "Clinton you suck" in public.
What the former Vice President and losing candidate for President means is that "free and open debate" is acceptable only if you agree with me! It is too soon for the tactics of the administration of which he was a part to be forgotten!
