Peter Arnett ( Takes credit for American Opposition to the War ) A MUST READ
3-30-2003

Posted on 03/30/2003 3:16:09 PM PST by Hillary's Lovely Legs

JOHN GIBSON: "Peter Arnett, who is now employed as a correspondant by National Georgraphic Television, was interviewed by one of Iraq's Information Ministers on Iraq State TV.

He began interviewing Arnett about what is going on in Iraq and what is going on in America about the war.

What Peter Arnett said is that it is clear that is going on in the US is clear that there is a growing challange of Bush's conduct of the war and then Arnett seemed to take credit for that, by saying that HIS reports from Iraq are helping opposition grow. "

ARNETT:" It is clear that within the United States that there is growing challenge to President Bush and he conduct about the war. And it is clear that our reports here about the Iraqi civilian casualties in the war, and the resistance of the Iraqi forces, are going back to the United States, and it helps those who oppose the war and challenge the policies to develop their arguments. "

So Arnett did not acknowldege what is a Pentagon claim, that the Iraqi casualties could be from Iraqi missiles which are errant missiles which are falling back down on their own Iraqi population. But Arnett went on to claim credit for growing opposition in the United States, but claimed that the Pentagon's War is a failure.

ARNETT: "Now America is reappraising the battlefield plan and delaying the war, for maybe a week. The first war plan has failed because of Iraqi resistance. Now they are trying to write another war plan. "

Of course Peter Arnett is now working for the National Georgraphic program, he has a deal with NBC and appears on another cable network. He has been allowed to do whatever he wants. This while other news agencies have been kicked out of Iraq, including Fox News Channel and CNN. And in addition the Newsday Newspapers has two reporters missing and assumed to be held by authorities in Iraq, yet Peter Arnett is allowed to stay. I guess that we can come to our own conclusions, it appears that Peter Arnett is now operating in Iraq and doing Iraq great favors by his own estimation, in organizing opposition to the war, here in this country, in the United States by his reports, and by giving the Iraqis a growing sense of nationalism, because by his accounts, the initial war plan has failed, and the Iraqi opposition has sent the war planners back to the drawing board.

So there you have it, Peter Arnett in Iraq.

"Arnett is a New Zealander"

I didn't know that. I thought he was from somewhere else though.

Was a New Zealander!

He is a naturalized US citizen. Therfore he is just as guilty of treason as Lord Haw-Haw.

I have made an effort to quit cussing, too. I am also former Navy--retired. It is one of the sins I commit regularly. This is not the time to attempt such a thing--I'll work on some of my other vices for the time being.

Pushi: I too am retired Navy and have tried my best to stop cussin'. But there are special cases that are especially appropiate for cussin'. This is a special case. Cuss on!!

Navy? I'm a born and bred New Yorker. Let me know if you @#$%^& amateurs need a @#$$%% ghost writer.

"Let me tell you ed... Chronkite was 10,000 times more influential with the American Public than pissant Peetah could ever hope to be!!! "

I certainly agree that Cronkite was vastly more influential and had a strong hand in shaping attitudes.

My point was that Arnett went on an ENEMY TV to give them propaganda. The crime was blatant and treasonous. Cronkite's was sinister and incremental.

Will you call this guy's mother and tell her to tell him his supper is ready, and it's time to come home?

,,, nope. He's yours. Just another American citizen having his say and being overpaid to do it. Can't win 'em all Ern.

While reading this, Fox just showed pictures of our brave men who made the Ultimate Sacrifice...

How sad and ironic, that it happened while reading NBC singing the praises of this POS..

He's being protected By Saddam, no doubt..

Don't you come back to the States, Arnett!!

(Just friendly advice, of course!)

You're absolutely correct! Now, which of them was more effective? We can see Peetah for what he is... Crankcase was the stealthy one and a far greater manace. At least Arnett is open and honest with his treachery and treasonous hatred for his adopted nation. Chronkite was a lecherous leftist liberal one-world Socialist/Commonist!!!

Above is a link where MSNBC allows you to send e-mail to Arnett while he is in the field. Doubt that many will reach him but I'm sure MSNBC will.

bfallon@ngs.org e-mail his boss & tell him what a truth shredder the creep

Thenk you. I did and my email follows:

I want to express my complete outrage with Peter Arnett's "aid and comfort to the enemy" report aired on Iraqi tv. Considering that is is time of war, and the lives of our young troops are on the line, he should be shot. That won't happen unfortunately, but if you had the slightest decency you would fire him. I'm sure he could find employment with the Iraqi government. He's already working for them so he might as well get paid for it.

Here was my e-mail to National Geographic:

Subject: Are you really paying Peter Arnett?

I hope my subscription is not paying for Peter Arnett in Baghdad. His recent "interview" with the Iraqi Information Ministry was in no way the level of journalism I expect from one of America's premier magazines.

The Arnett interview, in fact, borders on "aiding and abetting" the enemy. If the National Geographic Society doesn't disavow Arnett, I'm likely to disavow my subscription.

Signed
C.R.

repost of my messages to NBC, GE, Brokaw.(yes, I actually like Brokaw....I don't get FOXNEWS, so he's the best choice I have....)

Dear Mr. Brokaw,
I regularly watch your newscast and have great respect for you as a journalist and as an American. However, my message to the chiefs of your organization(below) states, I am thoroughly repulsed by yesterday's action of your colleague, Peter Arnett. I ask that you reject Mr. Arnett's decision to provide comfort and encouragement to the regime of Sadaam Heussein.
If not , I will no longer be a viewer of your network.
Sincerely,

Dear Gentlemen
I am writing to express my utter disgust with the words and actions of your reporter, Peter Arnett.

Arnett, appearing on Iraqi TV made comments that were complementary of Iraqi actions and critical of our country's conduct in the war.

Gentlemen, as you all know, there is no absolute right to "free speech". I don't know if Arnett is a citizen of the United States, but if he is, his words, in a time of war, spoken to the government of our enemy, and broadcast to the country we are fighting, reek of treason.

As far as GE and MSNBC are concerned, you are incorporated in the United States and have a moral duty to consider the potential harm Mr Arnett is inflicting on the country and your customers. Please do not tell me that he is not your employee or come back with any defense. This is indefensible.

I ask that you denounce Mr. Arnetts actions and remove him from your network. If not, I and many others will lead a boycott of your corporate products and services. Given the broad scope of your industries, I know a boycott would be a tall order. But I can assure you that many average citizens here on the homefront will work tirelessly to protest your corporate irresponsibility

Sincerely,
