Peter Arnett ( Takes credit for American Opposition to the War ) A MUST READ
3-30-2003

Posted on 03/30/2003 3:16:09 PM PST by Hillary's Lovely Legs

JOHN GIBSON: "Peter Arnett, who is now employed as a correspondant by National Georgraphic Television, was interviewed by one of Iraq's Information Ministers on Iraq State TV.

He began interviewing Arnett about what is going on in Iraq and what is going on in America about the war.

What Peter Arnett said is that it is clear that is going on in the US is clear that there is a growing challange of Bush's conduct of the war and then Arnett seemed to take credit for that, by saying that HIS reports from Iraq are helping opposition grow. "

ARNETT:" It is clear that within the United States that there is growing challenge to President Bush and he conduct about the war. And it is clear that our reports here about the Iraqi civilian casualties in the war, and the resistance of the Iraqi forces, are going back to the United States, and it helps those who oppose the war and challenge the policies to develop their arguments. "

So Arnett did not acknowldege what is a Pentagon claim, that the Iraqi casualties could be from Iraqi missiles which are errant missiles which are falling back down on their own Iraqi population. But Arnett went on to claim credit for growing opposition in the United States, but claimed that the Pentagon's War is a failure.

ARNETT: "Now America is reappraising the battlefield plan and delaying the war, for maybe a week. The first war plan has failed because of Iraqi resistance. Now they are trying to write another war plan. "

Of course Peter Arnett is now working for the National Georgraphic program, he has a deal with NBC and appears on another cable network. He has been allowed to do whatever he wants. This while other news agencies have been kicked out of Iraq, including Fox News Channel and CNN. And in addition the Newsday Newspapers has two reporters missing and assumed to be held by authorities in Iraq, yet Peter Arnett is allowed to stay. I guess that we can come to our own conclusions, it appears that Peter Arnett is now operating in Iraq and doing Iraq great favors by his own estimation, in organizing opposition to the war, here in this country, in the United States by his reports, and by giving the Iraqis a growing sense of nationalism, because by his accounts, the initial war plan has failed, and the Iraqi opposition has sent the war planners back to the drawing board.

So there you have it, Peter Arnett in Iraq.

The actual embedded people do pretty favorable reporting.

The military now refers to them as "Ticks".

I agree, traitor BIG TIME--for a LONG time. As I am livid like many, I am not surprised by this dispicable act. I also will never watch another National Geographic, read another National Geographic or tune into the two networks--I am done.

John said he was from New Zealand and had gotten American citizenship before? or during the first Gulf War. He sounds Iraqu to me. I never did like him....can anyone tell me why CNN fired him years back. There was some sort of scandal or such. I stored it in that part of the brain that has turned to gray matter, I guess!!!!!

I am also former Navy--retired. It is one of the sins I commit regularly.

Hah!  Don't I know.  We would even break words in half and stick obscenities in between the syllables.  It was so hard being home on leave, asking someone to past the %#$$* potatoes!!!

Folks, please don't write the Gettysburg address in your emails. Put your message in the title line and in one or two pithy sentences in the text.

They don't read paragraph after paragraph of your emails much as it makes us feel better to write a rant.

But they do keep a count.

This is one of the tricks of the trade.

My title on each email is "Benedict Arnett" and I put two sentence in the text.

Actually, they'll even get the message from the title alone!

Sent this email FREEEEEEEEP

I just saw Peter Arnett's interview with IRAQ TV and was totally offended. He claims credit, through his reports, for the stateside resistance to the war. Additionally, he credited the IRAQ resistance for turning the American strategy into Failure. I will never watch any reports from Mr. Arnett. Additionally, I will not watch NBC or National Geographic Explorer program until he is publically corrected for his actions. You may think that his comments are a "professional courtesy" to the people of IRAQ, I see them as aid and comfort to the enemy. Additionally, I am posting this information on several online sites so that many other people are made aware of this disgraceful performance. Mr. Arnett, who became a US citizen prior to the gulf war, is a disgrace to this country and I believe that we are worse off with him as a citizen.

I have made an effort to quit cussing, too. I am also former Navy--retired. It is one of the sins I commit regularly. This is not the time to attempt such a thing--I'll work on some of my other vices for the time being.

Pushi: I too am retired Navy and have tried my best to stop cussin'. But there are special cases that are especially appropiate for cussin'. This is a special case. Cuss on!!

If Arnett's statement wasn't treason what is? He was aiding and comforting the enemy by giving them the impression that they should hold out longer.

He has quite likely sealed the deaths of dozens if not hundreds of America's sons and daughters, and tens of thousands of Iraqis--deaths that need not have occurred.

Arnett's treasonous tongue is mightier and bloodier than any swood.

liz trotta noted that after his last little fiasco it became very unhealthy for arnett to find himself alone with special forces guys. i kinda don't think he's helped himself any with this stunt.

Then he has openly admitted a connection to International A.N.S.W.E.R, and Workers World Party. People like Dr. Sami Al-Arian, Fidel Castro and N. Korea supporters of the anti-war movement who have donated their support and money to the anti-American rallies.

He is the EPITOMY of IGNORANCE and he has aided and abetted the enemy!! He is a TRAITOR speaking on the SOIL of our enemy, giving them praise and encouragement.

We are doing exceptional, and that he would speak out against our troops fighting over there.. goes BEYOND the pale.

""a U.S. Marine "accidently" cap him in the "fog of war"."

I understand we have hit teams roaming Baghdad, maybe they will add his name to their list. He probably can't run very fast and that shinny bald head of his would make an excellent target.
