Peter Arnett ( Takes credit for American Opposition to the War ) A MUST READ
3-30-2003

Posted on 03/30/2003 3:16:09 PM PST by Hillary's Lovely Legs

JOHN GIBSON: "Peter Arnett, who is now employed as a correspondant by National Georgraphic Television, was interviewed by one of Iraq's Information Ministers on Iraq State TV.

He began interviewing Arnett about what is going on in Iraq and what is going on in America about the war.

What Peter Arnett said is that it is clear that is going on in the US is clear that there is a growing challange of Bush's conduct of the war and then Arnett seemed to take credit for that, by saying that HIS reports from Iraq are helping opposition grow. "

ARNETT:" It is clear that within the United States that there is growing challenge to President Bush and he conduct about the war. And it is clear that our reports here about the Iraqi civilian casualties in the war, and the resistance of the Iraqi forces, are going back to the United States, and it helps those who oppose the war and challenge the policies to develop their arguments. "

So Arnett did not acknowldege what is a Pentagon claim, that the Iraqi casualties could be from Iraqi missiles which are errant missiles which are falling back down on their own Iraqi population. But Arnett went on to claim credit for growing opposition in the United States, but claimed that the Pentagon's War is a failure.

ARNETT: "Now America is reappraising the battlefield plan and delaying the war, for maybe a week. The first war plan has failed because of Iraqi resistance. Now they are trying to write another war plan. "

Of course Peter Arnett is now working for the National Georgraphic program, he has a deal with NBC and appears on another cable network. He has been allowed to do whatever he wants. This while other news agencies have been kicked out of Iraq, including Fox News Channel and CNN. And in addition the Newsday Newspapers has two reporters missing and assumed to be held by authorities in Iraq, yet Peter Arnett is allowed to stay. I guess that we can come to our own conclusions, it appears that Peter Arnett is now operating in Iraq and doing Iraq great favors by his own estimation, in organizing opposition to the war, here in this country, in the United States by his reports, and by giving the Iraqis a growing sense of nationalism, because by his accounts, the initial war plan has failed, and the Iraqi opposition has sent the war planners back to the drawing board.

So there you have it, Peter Arnett in Iraq.

Now come on... this could be a great thing!

Maybe this will get Peter Arnett what he really wants: an exclusive interview with Saddam. Maybe he'll find Saddam the same time our Patriot missiles do. Maybe he has a smart-bomb magnet in his pocket, or a bullseye painted on his bald head.

Let's not jump to negative conclusions about all this.

His remarks were analytical in nature and were not intended to be anything more."

What sort of meally-mouth spokes-f*#k pens a press release like that? It would be nice to get a good link to GE's public relations dept.

Above are the e-mails. My recommendation is that all freepers send an "F You" e-mail to each of them. I enjoy Matthews and Russert and have respect for both of them. Will never watch their shows again, however, for as long as Arnett remains employed by their network. This has to be like the French. Gotta make it hurt.

He has basically broadcast to Iraqis that they should not give up -- their resistance is being taken back to the United States and Americans are scared; the war can end anyday.

TREASON

. If Ashcroft doesn't arrest this guy on his return then I am going to be freaking po'ed.

Time to boycott National Geographic, all affiliated organizations (National Geographic Explorer), and NBC (and all it's affiliates) But please don't just "boycott" - CONTACT them! Believe me, I'm taking notes from this thread regarding who, how, where. They will ALL hear from me shortly.

I'll eat my hat if NG does anything. They have been controlled by the far-left Envionazi crowd for many years now, so they're probably delighted by Arnett's praise for Iraq.

IMHO, a better tactic would be if a phone campaign could be organized where everyone contacts their local cable companies and demands the National Geographic Channel be removed from service until/unless they fire Arnett. We'd need a LOT of phone calls though, and a number of people literally willing to at least temporarily cancel their cable service if it came to that.

I just got back from a wonderful support the troops rally in San Diego and turned on Fox, and saw this story...I am not surprised but shocked, Peter Arnett did it, he topped his $#%^@ Baby Milk Factory story....I wonder if they have pics of him & Ritter or what.....I am all for free speech but this to me is as bad or worse than Hanoi Jane Fonda....I pray I never see this POS ever again in person or on television. If this guy is still employed by NG tommorrow I will be surprised. May he rot in Iraq.....

Write to Kassie.canter@nbc.com about Arnett (that is, write to GE/NBC public relations). Suggest you are boycotting GE products so long as Arnett is employed.

"because he travelled under a valid British passport his broadcasts to Britain from Germany got him charged with treason. He was hanged in 1946."

Too bad that WE don't consider it politically correct to prosecute this crime.

Does Tommy Franks know Arnett's changed the plan?

Ramsey Clark...today says Saddam is just a great guy and all those nasty narky agitprop pieces about him torturing people are just not so.

Peter Arnett...today says America is losing the war and has to change the battle plan.

OK. So this is the new spin that the antiwar bunch is going to get reving.

1) Saddam is not a monster - we are for using propaganda against him to further our aims.
2) The war is a failure...we have killed civilians..

Now. Can these people get anymore transparent? No wonder Charlie Rangel was spouting off. They are getting a new game plan together.

Counter this one freepers!

So am I. He is giving aid and comfort to the enemy, inciting the jihadists to flow into Iraq and giving hope to the Iraqi's to extend the war. In each and every case the cost to America is dead and wounded soldiers. If I ever see him or get near him, he'll wish he stayed in Baghdad.

NBC says Peter Arnett has "risked his life" to bring Americans the news. IF he risked his life, it's by his own choice. He's getting paid. Personally, I think he's a traitor, giving aid and comfort to the enemy. I hope NBC and National Geographic feel strong repercussions from this.

I have a feeling that he has made quite a bit of trouble for himself; don't be surprised if he (is asked) to take an eartly retirement.
