Peter Arnett ( Takes credit for American Opposition to the War ) A MUST READ
3-30-2003

Posted on 03/30/2003 3:16:09 PM PST by Hillary's Lovely Legs

JOHN GIBSON: "Peter Arnett, who is now employed as a correspondant by National Georgraphic Television, was interviewed by one of Iraq's Information Ministers on Iraq State TV.

He began interviewing Arnett about what is going on in Iraq and what is going on in America about the war.

What Peter Arnett said is that it is clear that is going on in the US is clear that there is a growing challange of Bush's conduct of the war and then Arnett seemed to take credit for that, by saying that HIS reports from Iraq are helping opposition grow. "

ARNETT:" It is clear that within the United States that there is growing challenge to President Bush and he conduct about the war. And it is clear that our reports here about the Iraqi civilian casualties in the war, and the resistance of the Iraqi forces, are going back to the United States, and it helps those who oppose the war and challenge the policies to develop their arguments. "

So Arnett did not acknowldege what is a Pentagon claim, that the Iraqi casualties could be from Iraqi missiles which are errant missiles which are falling back down on their own Iraqi population. But Arnett went on to claim credit for growing opposition in the United States, but claimed that the Pentagon's War is a failure.

ARNETT: "Now America is reappraising the battlefield plan and delaying the war, for maybe a week. The first war plan has failed because of Iraqi resistance. Now they are trying to write another war plan. "

Of course Peter Arnett is now working for the National Georgraphic program, he has a deal with NBC and appears on another cable network. He has been allowed to do whatever he wants. This while other news agencies have been kicked out of Iraq, including Fox News Channel and CNN. And in addition the Newsday Newspapers has two reporters missing and assumed to be held by authorities in Iraq, yet Peter Arnett is allowed to stay. I guess that we can come to our own conclusions, it appears that Peter Arnett is now operating in Iraq and doing Iraq great favors by his own estimation, in organizing opposition to the war, here in this country, in the United States by his reports, and by giving the Iraqis a growing sense of nationalism, because by his accounts, the initial war plan has failed, and the Iraqi opposition has sent the war planners back to the drawing board.

So there you have it, Peter Arnett in Iraq.

Here was my letter to the companies employing this traitor...I don't "write-in" often to complain about things but this has my blood boiling!

Dear Sirs:

I am shocked to hear what Peter Arnett has said on Iraqi television and even more shocked to hear GE/MSNBC/NBC's support of those comments. Peter Arnett is a traitor to freedom and his statements in support of Iraqi resistence serves only to prolong this conflict and threaten the lives of Americans and the innocent Iraqi civilians they're trying to save.

Peter Arnett praises the Iraqi Information Ministry? Is this the same Ministry that broadcase pictures of American POWs in violation of the Geneva Convention? Is this the same Ministry that is advocating people blow themselves up to kill Americans? Is this the same Ministry that will not answer questions about missing journalists? My initial reaction is that Peter Arnett was being coerced into giving those statements. After reading your support of his position it is VERY CLEAR that they are the opinions of GE/MSNBC/NBC as well.

EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED IN YOUR ORGANIZATION!

Maybe Peter Arnett and Dan Blather could put on a late night talk show on Iraqi T.V.?

Maybe it could finally be the DEMON RATS answer to FOX?

They could give out Tokyo Rose souvenier coffee cups maybe?

The dangerous duo could have such honored guests as Slick Willie, Hillary, Peter Jennings, Babs, Rosie, and even Jane Fonda!

What would Pete and Dan's show be called?

Isn't Arnett "embedded" with our troops? Sheesh, I vote that he be sent back home, without any escort from our troops! Give him a donkey and let him find the way back home.

"John Gibson's rant was the dessert to my dinner tonight. "

The Fox crew has definitely been on a roll. Have you seen Cavuto's rant against the French?

One of those bombs seemed to get kinda close to Peter the other night. Wonder if it was coincidence or what. The U.S. hit All The Queer Ah's office in Afganistan and the UN's office by "accident" maybe they will hit Peter by "accident." They probably just missed him anyway when they bombed the Iraqi Information Ministry.

My brother, an army vet, called me from out of state to give his sentiments about this interview. He was astounded and livid. (Understatement)

When the WSJ's (conservative) editorial page gets ahold of this, they'll be more honest about it than the (liberal) news division. His praise of the Iraqis' treatment of journalists is the least of his offenses.

Sigh. CAN WE PLEASE JUST START REFERRING TO HIM AS PETER QUISLING? I've emailed PMSNBC and told them that until they terminate his contract I'm not watching their channel. I've also emailed Microsoft since they have a controlling interest also. I'd reccomend everyone do the same.

They are replaying the interview again on FOX News.

The question is: Has MSNBC, who is paying the bastard's salary, playing it? I haven't seen any reference to it on MSNBC. Could it be that they are too ashamed?

My parents, as well as my husband and I, will be contacting NG. If Peter Arnett continues to be in their employ, our subscriptions will be cancelled and we'll not support NG in ANY way EVER again!
