John Gibson is pretty ticked off about this, and with good reason.
This is a transcript of John Gibson's report.

This will make your blood boil. I wish you could have seen his smug face taking credit for opposition to the war.

My letter to NG...
Sirs,
I cannot overemphasize my extreme distress at the "interview" Peter Arnett gave to Iraqi TV today.
Not only was it inappropriate for Mr. Arnett to express his personal opinions in the interview to the ENEMY, but he also MISREPRESENTED the truth. He said that questions were being raised about the President's policy with the war. ALL the major news organizations have had to report that there polling information has shown support of the president and his policy regarding Iraq and the war have INCREASED. It is difficult to imagine a rationale for passing on this kind of "encouragement" to an enemy dedicated to killing American soldiers by any means at it's disposal. This could lead to a continuation of the deaths of both coalition AND Iraqi soldiers.
I suggest the proper action for National Geographic and MSNBC would be an immediate withdrawal of Mr. Arnett from Baghdad and the termination of his employment.

Another thread about this with links to National Geographic just got pulled (guess it was a duplicate). At any rate, I've been a subscriber to NG for over 15 years. I am going to write them tonight and tell them that I will be cancelling my subscription if they do not immediately fire the dirtbag Peter Arnett.
Is Arnett a citizen of the U.S.? If so, he should be brought up on treason charges. If not, he should have his passport to enter the U.S. revoked.

Write MSNBC and National Geographic. This kind of thing is simply beyond the pale.
I suspect Bill O'Reilly will take off after Arnett and National Geographic. This is the kind of thing he's good at.

This is a clear case for revoking Arenot's citizenship and disowning him as a member of this nation ... at the very least. Personally, I would try the treasonous bastard and throw him in prison for the rest of his miserable life. I'm one guy he better never meet face to face.
