Another thread about this with links to National Geographic just got pulled (guess it was a duplicate). At any rate, I've been a subscriber to NG for over 15 years. I am going to write them tonight and tell them that I will be cancelling my subscription if they do not immediately fire the dirtbag Peter Arnett.
Is Arnett a citizen of the U.S.? If so, he should be brought up on treason charges. If not, he should have his passport to enter the U.S. revoked.

i just switched to msnbc to see if they're going to deal with this -- and they're wall-to-wall with fairly pedestrian fire in baghdad. i guess they couldn't find a police chase.

Treason it is! 'Bout time we start prosecuting the "mother of all crimes" of treason for these mothers of all criminals. The threshold of treason is awfully high, but at some point, we cannot any longer tolerate these "Hanoi Janes".
There must be a legal remedy that would actually work. Maybe the tide is finally changing in that direction.

He is New Zealand born, and not a US citizen so far as I know.

NG, like the Smitnsonian, has used generations of free money and general acceptance of anything they publish as a license to advertise their liberal/"America bad-third world good" bias as mainstream.
After Arnett is taken into life long custody (it worked for Hess) BOTH NG and the Smithsonian need to be shut down, reworked and reoritnted, then reopened on a scale small enough to keep them humble and broke.
