My letter to NG...

Sirs,

I cannot overemphasize my extreme distress at the "interview" Peter Arnett gave to Iraqi TV today.

Not only was it inappropriate for Mr. Arnett to express his personal opinions in the interview to the ENEMY, but he also MISREPRESENTED the truth. He said that questions were being raised about the President's policy with the war. ALL the major news organizations have had to report that there polling information has shown support of the president and his policy regarding Iraq and the war have INCREASED. It is difficult to imagine a rationale for passing on this kind of "encouragement" to an enemy dedicated to killing American soldiers by any means at it's disposal. This could lead to a continuation of the deaths of both coalition AND Iraqi soldiers.

I suggest the proper action for National Geographic and MSNBC would be an immediate withdrawal of Mr. Arnett from Baghdad and the termination of his employment.

Keith

NG is openly leftist and delights in getting complaints like yours. Concentrate on MSNBC, which at least has to worry about the appearance of impropriety.

I've been a member of Nat. Geo for 43 years.

If they don't disown this sonofabitch and disavow his statements...this will be my last year!

Here is what I wrote:

Dear Sir,

I have been a customer of National Geographic since my adult life began. Before that, my family subscribed. I grew up with National Geographic. I was one of the first subscribers to World Magazine.

I have a collection of National Geographic magazines going back to 1917.

The magazine has become incredibly propagandistic in the last 7 or 8 years. I have ignored that because of my loyalty and love of the magazines rich history.

The Peter Arnett interview on Iraqi television is a horrible representation of National Geographic and if he is not fired from your organization, I will cancel my subscription and never buy another National Geographic product again.

Please don't disappoint me.

Sincerely,

xxxxx

Here was my e-mail to National Geographic:

Subject: Are you really paying Peter Arnett?

I hope my subscription is not paying for Peter Arnett in Baghdad. His recent "interview" with the Iraqi Information Ministry was in no way the level of journalism I expect from one of America's premier magazines.

The Arnett interview, in fact, borders on "aiding and abetting" the enemy. If the National Geographic Society doesn't disavow Arnett, I'm likely to disavow my subscription.

Signed
C.R.
